I agree, we're seeing some annoying ability bloat. I've had to rearrange and re-memorize my crossbars.

I've had ideas about how to condense it for my smn, but i doubt they'd actually go for it.

(making ruin 3 the baseline filler as an example, reducing mana cost and damage outside of dreadwyrm trance)

It took 3-4 dungeon runs to get used to the new rotation, but its a lot more satisfying being able to pull it off.

Sure it can be hard to 100% upkeep everything now, but maybe thats what SE was going for.

I like the new DRG, I've had a lot of fun with it.

I am not sure why people feel the need to key bind everything in there spell book or abilities with super long cd's

They aren't really comparable. FFXI is a far slower game whose challenge is in coordinating combos across multiple characters. There were a lot of spells, but you'd pick the ones you need for the place you were going. You wouldn't bring fire spells to a fight against fire elementals like you do here.

I've been burned enough getting hit with AoE's trying click on Blood for Blood or other buffs that in order to use your buffs AND handle encounter mechanics, pretty much anything you want to use needs to be keybound.

let's reduce the abilities down to 3 buttons like wow! and we see where that has taken them.

use your mouse buttons if you have a CPU or macros. All there that's left is practice.

    Anything you want to use.
Everyone has a different preferences and play styles but personally I wont use bfb when aoe's are dropping because I don't like carpet surfing and foresight usually gets used with bfb. Battle litany has what a 2.5 min cd and and you are only going to use it when every on can go max dps which isnt running from a mechaninc or aoe.

Complexity for complexities sake is not a good thing. There's a reason Lockhead's Skunkworks (an organization that lacked neither brain power nor was cowed by complicated ideas or tasks) coined the acronym K.I.S.S. - Keep It Simple, Stupid!. Making things overly complex does not add depth, it adds the illusion of depth and often succeeds in only making things convoluted. How many of those excess abilities do we truly need? Which ones can be done away with entirely and which ones could be combined into new or per-existing skills?

I'm a level 50 dragoon and I have some of the same issues, I have three or so abilities with no keybinds as I simply have no keybinds to use for them. My hands aren't big enough to comfortably use the right half of my keyboard and trying to use Alt as a modifier gives me bloody handcramps.

WoW ran into this same problem around Wrath or Cataclysm (I forget which), my Hunter had something on the order of 65 abilities that had to be bound to things (a large portion of which were, thankfully, very situational). At some point you have to trim down the fat for the sake of the games playability if nothing else, though coming up with interesting ways to combine or replace the need for ability bloat serves to make the game better in the long run.

It doesn't matter if you are designing advanced jet engines and satellites or building a computer game, your core design credo should be K.I.S.S.

Complexity != fun all the time, especially when it's this convoluted.

Too many situational buttons. Reminds me of some AST abilities.

It's like they gave us shitty butoons just to give us buttons to push because folks would whine "we only got x abilities?"

And no, more modifiers or "controller" isn't a solution. Bard enough picking ptt for voice chat as it is(can't strafe with alt down because of chat channel switch commands that are unnecessary).
