To put it bluntly, those people are their own problem.

Take a moment to think about the absurdity of peoples' minds going into the gutter as soon as a playable childlike race appears, even when they're treated exactly the same as every other race in-universe. Whose fault is it that their minds are going into the gutter? Certainly not the design of the race, nor Square Enix.

Let's not forget that people can already be dirty and creepy with the existing palette of races. Case in point. If you hardly ever see people being dirty with scantily-clad catgirls being available, what in the world convinces you that there would be such a large number of new, dirtier-minded players just because of the addition of a race that fills the niche between Miqo'te and Lalafell?

It's not Square Enix's job to coddle people because a few players like to do things that make others uncomfortable. They can sell to whoever is willing to pay money to play their game, and if that means catering to underserved niches, then that's what they're going to do. Period.

We've been over this already. This is irrelevant because the same can be said of Lalafell and a hypothetical Lalaqo'te race. The only thing that matters is what they look like.

I, personally, would like people to take such characters as adults (which they (as in Lalafell/Lalaqo'te, not the BD cast) are designed as in-universe), but apparently a number of people have hang-ups with the separation between RL and fantasy. Hmmm, I wonder who's at fault there...

Edit: Let me be clear: crappy writing can make it extremely obvious when someone is just straight-up pedo-pandering, and I am entirely in agreement that that sort of thing is rather gross. On the other hand, if the characters look a lot like children, but are obviously written as and treated as adults like Lalafell are in-game, there shouldn't be any issues. If anything, that just makes things more interesting, as it's a hugely far cry from anything you'd ever see in reality...

If you leave your bicycle out in a shoddy neighborhood and you know it's a shoddy neighborhood, and it gets stolen. Is it the bikes fault? the person who stole it's fault? or is it the developers fault for giving them the tools to enable them to do so.

If someone can't tell the difference between fantasy and reality and is convinced by a violent video game that shooting people is fun and goes out to do the deed, is it the fault of the gun maker, the vendor that sold the gun, the person who owned the gun who that person stole from, the video game maker, the person who did the shooting, the parents for failing to raise the person correctly, or genetic mutation itself for allowing the genetic potential for someone to be born so damaged?

The answer: Who gives a crap? This is irrelevant. Stick with the topic, please.

Edit #2: To explain why your analogy sucks, you're talking about someone doing obviously criminal deeds vs. a handful of morons making people slightly uncomfortable through either words or dress. The analogy fails on its premise.
