I would not have nearly as much problem with it, no.Ok. Got me there. But let me pose this question, then. What if SE handled it responsibly? If the unequipped child's attire consisted T-shirts for girls and shorts that fell to their knees for both genders? If the bikinis changed to one pieces for the girls? It's known, for a fact, that race/gender affects gear appearance for some items, so this wont be a big issue dev-side. If all 'erotic' clothing was changed to a modest appearance for this race (or in the case of Play Boy Bunny, simply denied the ability to equip it), would you still have an issue with the child character?
.
...lol
Even if you could dress a child-like race in the skimpiest possible outfit available in the game, the word "child pornography" is an extreme exaggeration, the highest of hyperbole.
The anti-pedo paranoid madness is real.
...Yes?I'm sorry, but I'd desperately hope SE would be above the creators of TERA, both in game quality and racial options. Plus.. It still doesn't help the fact that people will sexualize them. Like, /blist and all is fine, but I'd prefer not to see grown adults play underage people jumping around in the taffeta set, because you and I both know what they're most likely thinking about.
Cool, Lalafell are a thing, heck Auri women are a thing (I still argue that they look way too childlike and should've given us some actual mature options with regard to them with one of the clans). I'd rather not come even closer to allowing legitimate actual children as PC though. Even if you go the Elin route, at the end of the day it's still 1000 yr old children that folks will end up sexualizing.
I'm not on your side either, but you'd rather allow SE to further pander to a really gross demographic, so I'm sure I'd not want to be on your side. Seriously, are your personal aesthetic tastes worth more to you than keeping the game from being further polluted with some really gross people?
Note that I'm not even necessarily advocating for actual children, just a race that fills the niche in-between Miqo'te and Lalafell. It's a huge, gaping, really obvious hole.
Also, see rule 34. People will literally sexualize anything, INCLUDING LALAFELL, and there is nothing you can do about this. It's a pointless thing to 'fear' when it already happens with every fictional character under the sun. You just don't see it because you don't frequent the places they show up.
Having such a race in-game does not suddenly grant people the power to throw pornography into your face. At most you may see a few characters every now and then in questionable glamours, and the occasional idiotic /shout chat which you already get now. The effect on your everyday life is effectively nothing, unless you have some kind of child-in-bikini phobia that triggers deadly mental trauma or some crap, in which case, seriously, no one has to cater to you because you're an extreme of extreme minorities.
It's like people with arachnophobia trying to get spiders and spider-like creatures removed from the game. You know what game devs do for them? NOTHING. Tough luck, buddy! You'll either steel through your irrational fear or just stop playing the game, and there ain't naught else you can do about it.
They're a fundamental difference between having a child character and giving a person (Specifically an adult) the ability to have control over a child character, the latter having a lot more creeper tones especially considering that they'd be allowed to do a lot of stuff just through well /em.
Basically, at this point, you're denying everyone the ability to do something based on the actions of a few. That is unfair, no matter how you look at it. And when I mean 'a few', I mean 'a few'. Considering the sheer amount of people who play this game, I so rarely run into people in skimpy outfits, who act completely perverted in the open. Given how rarely I meet these people, running into someone with a child character who would do this would be even more rare. Not even once every 3 months, I'd imagine (numbers out of my butt, but hey.).
The sheer, vast majority of people who would make a child character are doing it for the same reasons as everyone else making an adult character. Not because they want to molest some kids.

The issue isn't how SE handles it, it's the players. SE could just have easily made the Au Ra children, but they didn't, because they know just as well as we know, that we're not responsible enough to use the characters as intended. It's crazy to think that they'd spend the time and resources to go through censoring all the armors, possibly have to change the ESRB of the game, and fight off media flak to add children as playable characters that will, in the end, cause more harm than good.
Just be happy with what you got, and hope that if we get another race it's a little more creative than humans with <insert animal bits of your choice> tacked on. Realistically though, the next thing we get would probably be Viera.
And a lot of people have voiced against the idea, and forcing them to have to play in a world they're not comfortable with because the opinions of a few is just as bad.

You and everyone else who thinks this way must really hate games where you play as a child like Pokemon, Ni No Kuni Wrath of the White Witch, Persona 3, Breath of Fire 3 and all those other RPGs where kids or early teens are the lead. They're a fundamental difference between having a child character and giving a person (Specifically an adult) the ability to have control over a child character, the latter having a lot more creeper tones especially considering that they'd be allowed to do a lot of stuff just through well /em.
Which insinuates that I'm not, actually. Telling someone that they need to just be happy is basically telling them to stop complaining.
