huton will probably end up being refreshed via ninjutsu during downtime, but the best min/maxers will be able to work out where to fit in extra aoeliean edges to the rotation since huton wont need to be refreshed, will add quite a good level in skill to be the best nin.
So, someone on another site pointed out something about Duality that restores my hope for it. We know it says that "Combo bonuses and additional effects" only apply once. But, if we use, say, Shadow Fang as an example, the only "Combo Bonus" for Shadow Fang is the dot component. The additional potency is listed under "Combo Potency." A literal combined reading, then, would say that we get the combo potency both times, but the dot only once.
After checking our tool tips.. I see that AE is only a potency of 100.... therefore, would it not be wiser to use Duality with spinning edge, as it has a potency of 150? Given that it's not going to hit for the combo potency at all and probably won't interrupt comboing into gust slash... everything else has a non-combo potency of 100.
Read my post right above yours. Combo Potency and Combo Bonus are listed as two different things. Duality says we don't get the Combo Bonus, but is silent on Combo Potency. Ergo, we most likely get the Combo Potency. After checking our tool tips.. Besides, I seriously doubt SE would give us a level 58 skill that's objectively weaker than our level 15 skill.
I still think Duality lasts for the full duration rather one skill. So I think it'll be pretty strong either way, though I do hope we get the combo potency.
Duality reads just like the new Barrage, its seems to be a duration like Barrage.
Well, from my understanding you'll just get the base version of the weaponskill added to your attacks. So if you do Gust Slash 200 potency + Base 100potency. Spinning Edge 150potency + Base 150potency. I'm not entirely sure how Aeolian Edge and Armor Crush will work though, because at their base in the right position they're 180(rear) and 160(flank) respectively.
Viridian brought up that Combo Potency and Combo Bonus may be different things.Well, from my understanding you'll just get the base version of the weaponskill added to your attacks. Shadowfang, for example, has both:
I think it can go either way, since they didn't use a capital B for Combo bonus in Duality's tooltip while this one does. So they might be just using the word bonus normally rather than referring to that specific thing.Combo Action: Spinning Edge
Combo Potency: 200
Combo Bonus: Damage over time
Potency: 40
Duration: 18s
Either way, it'll be pretty strong. But NIN isn't getting that much so these are the things we have to keep up.
And yea, I hope we can transfer all that enmity to the tank with Shadewalker.
Also, we have so many oGCDs now.
It'll take at least 30s after the start for us to get a rest and have everything running on cooldown, then using them will be more spread out.
But yea, our opening should be pretty crazy now, and it should still be fairly active afterwards.

Oh, I see, I initially thought combo potency and bonus were one-in-the-same.
EDIT: Ok, NIN just got a whole lot better if Viridiana's predictions are true.
