Any plans for compensaion due to a full 24 hours with inability to play?

It does happen in other games. But it has to be serious loss of time. Some games used to have an hour maintenance scheduled every day. If down time in a month eclipses 72 hours(arbitrary number) then you might expect something. If they go the more WoW clone model. But expect something like everyone gets the free panda minion we couldn't get. And no it doesn't matter if its 42 hours over a month and it is the 2 hours you can play every day. They do not guarantee live 24 hour servers.

I don't think the question is particularly odd. Actually, that people are blown away by the question is what's odd to me. But then, I've played subscription based MMOs that make a habit of crediting for extended downtime.

After all, it's just pennies per player, right? Why not throw them a bone. Especially if you're going to turn around and charge them extra anyway for solutions to storage space issues.

I am curious what the dollar figure is where people can start asking questions about downtime compensation without people being surprised.

I think it's more along the lines that someone posts this thread every single time there is a big patch or downtime lasting longer than the normal maintenance downtime. Hard to tell if people are just trolling anymore. If people want compensation for downtime, they should contact customer service rather than creating a thread here about it. The EULA covers any interruption of service regardless.

Honestly, I'd say it's your own fault for not going to the main page before resubbing, did you just bypass looking at the news and click directly on the mog station? Because honeslty if you just went to http://na.finalfantasyxiv.com/lodestone/ then you would of noticed "maintenance" and could of easily check the news before resubbing but you didn't. It's a lesson learned, if your time to play is that precious or rather money, and if you can't play for one day that you'd rather wait 8 days for that one day to pass to resub then next time take the time to read the news before you resub.

to top it off they put in red letters <Maintenance> so it's hard to miss

Please read the terms you agreed to before complaining about not being able to play for one day due to an upcoming expansion. You are not entitled to anything if the game goes down for maintenance.
