I recently returned to WHM after spending a lot of time with SCH obtaining the Zeta. WHM has Holy, Benediction, and Regen, it's impossible not to love, and the raw healing throughput is a thrill once you've popped Divine Seal. As others have said, that perfectly pre-casted heal bomb is really a thrill. Just another tip of the hat to WHM and all it's players.
Well, I'm fairly new to the game with a 31 WHM, and I love healing the dungeons I can. The thrill of watching my tanks health bar jump up. I strangly like the oh crap moments when something wrong is aggro'd and we are on the brink of wiping the dungeon but narrowly survive with a well timed swift cast
Whm takes a minute to learn.. And a lifetime to master.
I am on the same boat as you.I recently returned to WHM after spending a lot of time with SCH obtaining the Zeta. As others have said, that perfectly pre-casted heal bomb is really a thrill. Just another tip of the hat to WHM and all it's players.
Started playing WHM more recently and enjoying it again.
Maybe because my high allagan crook finally dropped for my glamour.
Can't wait to try out the new spells once 3.0 hits
The trick to both healers, but especially with WHM, is to be able to anticipate lethal damage spikes and time your heals and buffs appropriately.Honestly, after going from occasionally playing as a SCH to leveling my CNJ/WHM, I have nothing but respect for people who play it. I really wasn't fond of playing the class myself because I prefer preventive healing over reactive healing, so after playing as it some, I can understand how stressful playing as such can be, particularly when you're up against hard hitting enemies.......
SCHs who play reactively don't make full use of their shields and end up grossly underhealing or blowing Aetherflow stacks on Lustrate spam while reactive WHMs are perpetually scrambling to catch up and are feeling pulled in every direction at once.
WHM is as much pre-emptive healing as a SCH.
Low skilled healers will heal after damage is taken.
SCH can mitigate damage but it only shines when paired with a WHM. Pair two WHM and the raw healing power can force it's way through many scenarios in the game.
Having a SCH/WHM combo gives more variety but after playing a SCH because there seems to be a shortage of Skilled SCH I don't see what is soo great about them. The pet is essentially a free regen. Embrace is a weak healing spell. Only useful spell on SCH is scared soil.
Lustrate pales in comparison to Cure II and the skill is mainly useful for panic heals which healers should NEVER do or make up for someone screwing up.
WHM is the stinger healer of the two. Only after you have a raid group that is fully geared and has learned the fights inside out, developed strategies to take advantage of the full i130 gear does the SCH suddenly seem to be amazing.
But no matter what happens a WHM will always be the one that is solely responsible for making the entire party is healed up when the SCH experiences an Identity crisis and forget's what Job they are and regresses to an inferior SMN.
I was with you for the first line or so, and then you lost me with the WHM vs. SCH comparisons.
If anything, SCH is the more idiot-proof dungeon healer while WHM shines best in end game scenarios that actually require the kind of raw healing they can throw out; outside of raids, WHM stands out more for being the Holy Trash Compactor than for their healbombs actually being necessary.
SCH/WHM meta is the way it is for some obvious reasons, which include A) WHMs having accuracy checks on all their DPS spells, B) the combined healing attention of both WHM and SCH rarely being needed, and C) SCHs being more agile with stance-dancing.
After the first line your post became so full of wrong it almost hurt to read.
I love playing WHM. But I would never think that a SCH who is equally skilled couldn't do just as well. Yes a WHM can heal a group easier, but a SCH isn't so weak that the raid would die. Also, leveling my SCH again has shown me that the fairy and Adlo are ridic.
Just got my whm job stone today. Been loving stance dancing and carving up the lower dungeons. Its a great role that you can really push to make a significant difference to dps output before slamming home some cures just at the right time. You learn a lot more about the game by levelling a healer, that is for sure!
I am seriously turned on by the thought I will be able to spam holy one day :-D
