I do not understand the greif DPS get (as a whole) because theres 4 players in a full party that are DPS, not all of them are bad, and they are certainly not all the same job or play styles.
If you want to call out a particular something theyre doing wrong and show them how to do it better then by all means - thats actually good feedback and is likely to change the outcome of the next attempt. "Bad DPS" means youve no clue how to fix it, so its all a waste of time.
I'm having to throw way back to the days of Titan Ex here, where DPS were constantly blamed but realy the team needed to reflect and realise MNK is having trouble with positionals so suggest the android app that lets him/her know when weight of land is coming, DRG and BLM are having trouble with weight of land because the healers arent stood together with the team -easy fix, and ta-da! WIN!

Calling out someone for failed mechanics is easy.

But when the DPS are doing less damage than the tanks and healers, and we wipe to failed DPS check or enrage... We can't call them out cause parsers are apparently the app-spawn of satan.

So we're left with "bad DPS".

It's easy to spot a bad tank, no cooldowns, mobs run amok, overpulls to the strength of the party. Tis easy to spot an inept healer, doesn't heal, players die even tho the damage taken was totally manageable. etc
They get called out on, and you see very few posts complaining about it as visual confirmation is easy to see with the results of inexperience or just bad play.

But as soon as DPS called for underperforming to a standard needed to clear the content, the players calling them out are bad for telling them or even just trying to give them advice.

Double standards need to stop and these bad DPS need to start playing to the same standard they expect the tanks and healers to be playing at when they join DF. Because they would be (seen from experience) the first ones to rag on the tank and healer underperforming. That ego.

I don't really get what this post has to do with the guy you quoted (who was saying all DPS shouldn't catch hell because some of them are bad/can't take criticism).

What he's saying is true, BTW. Not saying you're doing this, but people who do the "DPS are whiny and want double standards" thing needs to stop because well, it's not all DPS. Same as not all tanks or all healers are bad.

Except you have no idea if that dps has ragged on anyone as you rag on him. There is more than one dps player in the playerbase...

You are far worse than the people you are complaining about. I'll tell you the same thing I tell anyone (any class) who complains in DF dungeons. Find a group if you can't handle different skill levels... This isn't your game. They are also paying for the right to be there...

Also, I've seen tanks and healers who lashed out when critisized. If I was acting like you, this would prove that they all do it. I rarely see anyone give critisism in a non confrontational way and I hardly see anyone take critisism well from random strangers. That goes for every job/class...

I main DPS for raiding or when doing stuff with static, I also run DF as tank or healer. And I'm also very patient. I'll do full clear if im asked like a human being and not demanded. I'l give advice and take time running new players through content, but if someone starts being disrespectful to the detriment of the party, I'll tell them, whether thats in their attitude towards others or they method of playing is preventing progression even after being given advice and getting ignored. If they don't change, i'll talk in the party about removing them. If they party doesn't and it doesn't change, then i'll remove myself from the party and do something else.

After jumping in DF coil to help out and seeing it fail terribly, most of the time it has been the DPS blaming everyone else even tho it was that DPS raging who messed up the most. Whereas more often than not, if the tanks or healers make mistake, they admit to it. Ego blinds people to the truth of their own mistakes. Not saying it ONLY applies to DPS, but from experience the scales fall higher to wards those kind of players who picked a DPS job.

It's great watching a new player improve visibly through a DF dungeon after giving helpful advice. It isn't when someone messes up, doesn't take advice and continues to mess up becuase they are blind to their own mistakes. We all make mistakes, the good people are those who can recognize they do so.
