I'm probably the only one that is put off by the dud card... if it would have been a DPS I'd agree but not on a healer. Granted it certainly fits the "oracle" part but after feeling SE's RNG... I'll better stay FAR away from that class with that dud card as I'll be permanently be causing wipes lol.

I don't really mind the stance being outside battle only - it fits the job theme well even though a 5min cooldown to switch stances once or twice a raid would be cool..

As long as astrologian does not have the ability to dps as well as the white mage and sholar. It provides some pretty strong buffs and having two heal jobs that can dps pretty decent and a third healer that provides just support seems like a nice niche.

AST has dps abilities and access to Cleric stance. We will very likely see them putting out decent dps.

The "dud" card at this point is almost certainly a mistranslation in the client they were playing:

1) It was previously mentioned (in a dev post) that an Astrologian card would reduce damage taken

2) The buff from the "dud" card is applied on the Buff side of the status effects bar.

3) Eytomology for "Bole" - the dud card - is much more defensive (see here)

I think they'll do none in raid scenarios. I think the cards are compensation for their reportedly awful dps capability. Rather than doing dps of their own, they add to the rest of the party's. Spare GCDs not used for healing would be used on drawing cards, not doing dps.

Its DPS/Heal stancing will play very much how WHM/SCH currently does, but yeah, their raw DPS capabilities are probably lower than WHM & SCH as their Cards will increase the parties overall DPS a lot.

Still, just like any healer, people will come to use their dps functions to perform in raid content. Whatever dps they offer is going to be more than if they didn't. Nothing requires healers to dps, but as long as they have the ability to, players raiding are going to use them.

AST sounds amazing to me. I love the two stances and love the thought of adding utility to everyone else's DPS. That's quite different than what I'm used to playing WHM and SCH.
