The really stupid thing here is that the changes won't make much difference. People wiped on SoF because idiots refused to engage with the mechanics of the fight. You still need to use those mechanics post-nerf so those same idiots will keep wiping.

The sad thing about all this is that we're not allowed to have any challenging story encounters because bad players might cry. It was ridiculous how easy Lahabrea and Nabriales were to defeat; they didn't feel like major story bosses at all. That's why a lot of us were pleased with SoF since it actually felt like a struggle and those ending cutscenes after were a fantastic reward. Why must bad players insist that everyone stoop to their level to get things done? Surely it makes more sense for them to learn to play? Nerfing content so they can pass like this is only going to cause them to get stuck on something else...

Yes, because it's totally the bad players forcing SE's hand. SE has a plan in mind for what they want their game to be. If that includes tweaking a story-line fight that will block a lot of people from playing their soon to be released x-pac, so be it. If you want a hardcore game, you're in the wrong MMO. To me, it's a bit silly crying about what you wish the game would be.

The bad players that want to just blow their way through content have been the root cause of nerfs to story bosses all the way back to the 2.0 beta. For those that remember: lv 15 Gargoyle.

There was nothing hardcore about the SoF trial. It was relatively simple in terms of mechanics, the problem was the bad players didn't even want to try. How hard is it to press three dragon-killer switches over 10 minutes?

The majority of parties that were unable to clear the trial were not struggling with the difficulty of the encounter, they were struggling with the idiocy of the players. Players that outright ignore other members of their party, refuse to engage with the mechanics of the fight and insult anyone that tries to show them how to defeat the boss do NOT deserve to pass that trial.

How do you not understand this? Nerfing the trial made no real difference to the difficulty as the same mechanics still need to be dealt with and the same bad players will still refuse to cooperate. Why should anyone at all cater to them?

They've made the fight quite a bit easier by removing mobs, lowering HP, and other tweaks. Of course mechanics will still need to be done, but the fight is more forgiving for random DF groups.

This game leans heavily towards the casual side. The earlier you accept this, the sooner you'll come to terms with the nerfs.

From what I have heard the changes allow groups to use one less DK, kill adds faster, and kill the boss faster. How does that not make a difference? O.o I've yet to see any forum posts about it still being to hard, so clearly a difference has been made.

    Two things:

    1. It's story quest, get over it. Want challenging? Go do Coils or something else.

    2. How do you think it would effect SE's revenue in a month when a large part of the playerbase can't pass that trial and go into the expansion? Seriously.... Do you guys not think about these things?

This is never going to get resolved. This whole ridiculous "issue" will just have to blow over and be forgotten much like the backlash Echo got when it was brought into BCOB.

Mostly because neither side is agreeing to argue about the same thing.

Those fine/happy about the nerf are saying how this is story content as a prerequisite to even enjoy the upcoming expansion (let alone end of 2.0's story arc) and how many "veteran" (read: impatient) players bail upon encountering this in roulette due to its difficulty in comparison to anything else.

Those upset about the nerf are either mad that this trial doesn't weed players out anymore, feel like the devs will continue to nerf everything to the ground, want the devs to adjust their content in ways that don't hurt egos.

At this point just drop it (especially if you are done with this trial and haven't been back since).
