    Take it easy on the Nerfing :/

    I understand the desire to help newer and struggling players complete content but is Nerfing truly necessary for all content presented to us that was (Reasonably) challenging?

    I'm the kind of player that loves a little competitive edge when it comes to playing new content for the first time. I love playing FFXIV, but my RL schedule makes it difficult to keep up with it all. Content like Coil for example. When I was a static for First and Second Coil, I loved being able to learn and master the mechanics.

    One of my favorite things about the Final Fantasy series (and RPGs in general) were fights where you would go at it for hours; where nearly your entire party was eliminated, your resources were almost exhausted. and the mere thought pulling off that one critical blow that could mean the difference between victory, and failure.

    Thus far, Endgame content in FFXIV when released, does have that edge. Heck, even The Steps of Faith posed an interesting challenge, adding a little edge to story completion. Extreme fights and even Pharos Sirius had edge... at one point.

    Which leads me to my point... Is all endgame content going to suffer the fate of reduced difficulty? Like I said before, I understand the necessity of aiding players who struggle with completion, but is all endgame content going to become subject to this? Content like Coil being subject to high echo bonuses, before even attempting the fight; Reducing enemy HP; Eliminating status effects of boss mechanics; and Decreasing Damage dealt by Enemy attacks...

    At the very least I wish SE would allow the option of completing endgame prior to reducing its difficult and separate the rewards to actually incline players to attempt it. Lets face it, If your not in a static, a good chunk of the player base wont even attempt endgame until it has been nerfed and made farm-able.

    Please SE, with Heavensward and Beyond, don't subject every single piece of endgame content you release to alleviated difficulty... And if it is truly necessary, like how some players just want to do Coil to experience the story, I hope the approach will be similar to the speculation of how the Alexander Raid will be. A Normal level for those who just want to do it for the story, and a Savage level for completionist that will reward better loot, because, lets face it, people won't do it unless it provides something a little more worthwhile.

    Personally I'm okay with them nerfing content if it is needed to progress the main story, such as with Steps of Faith. Non required content such as the Coils, EX Primals and CT should not be nerfed ever in my mind.

    Nerfing old content is good (2-3 main patches old).
    nerfing actual content before the next main patch is sad.

    the thing is did it need a nerf a slight nerf to visap hp ok but look at the mechanics

    The boss has a lot of HP answer - cannons
    Lots of adds - cannons
    Dps is to low- CANNONS (and dragon killers)

    i went into a lot of SoF just to help people and once they wiped once and know what to do with the cannons and towers they won, it wasn't due to bad dps or being over whelmed by adds it was learning the mechanics and thats why i think a lot of people are annoyed with SE because a mechanic driven fight can now be ignored if you dps the boss hard enough :/

    Lets not forget this is the 'FINAL BOSS' of FFXIV 2.x, and there is currently no content after him, so nerving him -now- seems fruitless. :c

    this is true in most aspects but for the SoF i beleave they made it nerved for the smallest 'wont even try' groups so 'everyone' can get into heavenward,, they wouldn't of released the fight to begin with if they didn't think the masses would win.

    What people fail to realize is that SE has logs from JP NA and EU for every trial, duty, dungeon and raid and nerf content according to what the numbers say.
    If they overture an instance and the numbers say it's over tuned it will be nerfed regardless of how long it's been out.

    That was already the case. I completed SoF with a PF group with only using one DK and before the final snare. I also am of the belief that such a mechanic driven fight has no place in the main story line. Such fights should be optional content.

    As sad as it is to see they nerfed a decently difficult story fight, a large portion of the community asked for it. It's rather funny to see the opinion turn so quickly when it actually happens.

    I haven't tried the new fight yet, but from what I see and hear, it should be enough to just get people up and through the story now. I agree nerfs to the story fights should happen after a time to allow everyone to be up to the same point in the game, MSQ wise. But nerfing the extra endgame content, coil, ex, etc, should be taken carefully and not to allow to much ease on the players. I feel they have been over all successful with this.

    The nerf to Steps of Faith wasn't needed. All that was needed was actual communication between the 8 members.
    Honestly. It really wasn't that hard. I know I failed a couple times in the beginning but the DF group I was with kept trying, and eventually won.

    I guess everyone wants a easy game.

    Evidently, the way forward is to bring out content super easy so there is never a need to nerf anything.

    The staggered nerfing/buffing system is proven way to run a MMO, more hardcore players get their day, and the casuals there own, everyone is happy. What difficulty someone else is clearing it at months later should really not be anyone's concern, why would anyone who completed it so long ago really care?

    There is just over a month before FCOB is obsolete, many casuals will want to complete that story before going into heavenward. With the main point being on the story, why deny so many players the opportunity? Its not like the gear is worth anything anymore, it's all just the experience.

    MMOs are for fun, the system is a balanced one which brings the most fun to the most people.

    Steps didn't need a nerf, it just needed to be placed in the correct roulette.
