    Why? level 50 players currently run through every low level zone in the game, for a myriad of reasons. New players would be doing very quick and easy quests in between dungeon and trial queues as they progress through the story. Also the Astral quests only number like 100-ish. Large portion of which are redundant dialogue quests that take a minute or two.

    This is how it is always been with MMOs. People want to experience the most current content. If you force new people to do 545454654654654 quests at level 50 before they can experience the "newest content" a lot of those players may feel discouraged.

    EDIT: Ill admit, I LOVE the storyline right now. Still working through it and loving every minute of it. However if the level cap was 60 and I was still running the level 50 quests even though I had already leveled to 52 (or something like that), I don't think I would see it as fun, but more of a chore. Thats my whole point.

    If only I was exaggerating! My 10+ years and multiple different MMO experiences tells me otherwise. People are not going to find it fun to be grinding level 50 quests when they want to go to level 51+ zones. And yes, it will be a grind. Right now as a dps I sometimes wait thirty minutes for a story dungeon/raid. Once this content is no longer current I bet that wait time will jump to an hour or more. The story questline up to 2.0 is perfect, but I'm telling you that the 2.1 to 2.55 storyline is not going to be new player friendly once the next expansion goes live.

    exept before FF14, no mmorpg did really put the story and the lore first. most of the time they was simply focusing on the gameplay and stuff like this. exept here, FF14, is all about the world, story, lore and how it can be bring to us. if people find it a chore to do the msq.... they need to rethink why they play this game.

    ps: the msq quest of 2.1-2.55 will give 0 exp, just for say it.

    What you aren't taking into account, is that basically all older MMO's had a much longer and tedious lvl grind than XIV has. Also as has been mention, queue times for 2.X duties shouldn't be nearly as bad as they are now, since they are planning to allow us to run the content with less than 4 players, possibly even do solo runs, though that may just be my wishful thinking for later part.

    Edit: Also I know expansions add a lot of content, but I've yet to see any Expansion/DLC/Update that was the sole deciding factor in me picking up a game, it's always been the core game.

    The 2.1 to 2.55 story line quests will not take an average player long at all to complete, save the dungeon and trial queues which already have mechanics in game to alleviate.

    I don't really understand this mindset - if you're a new player, it's ALL new content! Even though it's an MMO, it's still a final fantasy and thus there is story. Once you hit 50 there's really not that much to get through. And as for there not being people running the old story content, somehow, I'm sure SE will find a way to make us....

    Confirmation? If no confirmation, and since they've said a few things will be unlocked at 52, it stands to reason that they'll simply alter the lvl 50 quests to give EXP.

    what will be the point to give tons of exp before even start the first quest from the expansion?

    people think they will do like other mmorpg from before, but like said, this game (even if it classic in the genre) have done soo many stuff that other mmorpg have never done before. they have rework the whole game when it did fail, they did maintain a release of content with story every 3 month and deliver us an amount of content pretty impressive, etc...

    now they have decide to make the story a need for get access to the expansion. and i don't see them spend time into modify the quest from the 2.1-2.55 for add exp....since normally you can't level up before the expansion and it recquire the completion of the 2.55.
