If the benefit of having a Zeta in 3.0 is not worthwhile - new players will suffer

That's the point. SE NEEDS people running old content, and that's what the relic grind is all about. If SE makes the relic grinders unhappy, people will stop grinding relics, and probably won't bother with the new Heavensward relic. If people stop grinding relics, then there's a whole lot less people running old dungeons and FATEs.

Folks running Alexander (Savage) to get their weapons does not help new players through old content. Therefore, SE needs to make Relics and Heavensward Relics attractive and rewarding options.

If you regret the choice you made, then you won't make that choice again, right? And other people will try not to make that choice as well, right? If that happens, then SE has failed, because they WANT people to make that choice.

And if they give everyone free relics they still wont run old content. Ultimately your going to be given the exact same choice. Do Alexander hard for top tier weapon, wait til 3.1 and grind a bunch of easy stuff for top tier. Or have a weapon that's not top tier, probably some kind of weapon from the primals.

They can't make the best weapon in the game also the easiest to obtain. If they do that then they might as well only bother making one weapon, cuz that will be the weapon everyone gets.
