If the benefit of having a Zeta in 3.0 is not worthwhile - new players will suffer

    Hear me out.

A new player that purchases "A Realm Reborn" along with the expansion needs to complete the 2.0 storyline prior to even entering the expansion zones. This means at a minimum (by my count) completing twelve 2.0 dungeon runs and ten 2.0 trials.

When the expansion comes out - can you imagine the queue times for some of these old 2.0 dungeons and trials? If I'm a new player and I have to wait through 15 to 20 hours of queues just to get caught up ontop of likely 100+ hours worth of outdated storyline quests / dungeon runs I think I'd probably give up.

The Zodiac questline give incentive for players to play old outdated content. That incentive needs to exist even after 3.0 is released. There needs to be some perk to having a Zeta that is long lasting or simply the Zodiac questline needs to continue (maybe side by side with a separate relic questline).

I don't get the outdated storyline quests. They are part of the story and are not outdated. They need to be done when leveling just like anyone else. The issue of queue times for dungeons is a good one. I support keeping Zeta and the relic line vibrant. Lots of people have done it and are in the process of doing it. I'm personally considering doing another relic zeta but haven't decided if I want to do Dragoon or White Mage.

I seriously doubt that SE is foolish enough to throw all that hard work out for those who have completed the line and for those currently in the process of getting one. Just about everyone in my FC who is doing relic is working at some point in the relic quest from doing books to scrolls and so on. There will be quite a few unhappy campers if they simply abandon all that work.

Oh. Don't worry, they'll find a way to make us play that "old content" again. With the three new lvl30 jobs first, then probably with another relic, or even crafting-airship-materials... or whatever.

If I were to keep my stats from my Zeta and moving onward with the new relic questline, It would be worthwhile and keeps players doing older content. However, It does worry me if I end up losing my stats I had invested time and money on the new 3.0 relic questline, I may never do relics ever again.

It seems likely that roulette would continue to stuff old players into the lower-level/older dungeons.

And I'd bet the new relic line will have you hitting old content again as well.

Honestly if SE doesn't do something good with Zeta, a lot of people are going to be pissed off. It won't be the downfall of the game or anything but personally I'll be a lot more skeptical when it comes to any grindy content in this game and will participate less. When the Zodiac questline was announced they made it seem like it would be something that would continue forever, not something that would only be relavent up until the 1st expansion. People put literally hundreds of hours into those weapons and 5-10+ million gil and it would be a slap in the face to not at least give them some purpose in 3.0.

As for old content, you can pretty much guarentee that the new relics (or whatever they call them) will have you jumping through old, level synced content in order to ensure new players can get things done in a reasonable time. If you think you'll never have to do the old content again after 3.0 I think you'll be sadly mistaken. I could be wrong but I know they love to make you repeat all of the content until your eyes bleed so I doubt it.

The amount of "advantage" you get for next relic in exchange of the Zeta will determine if i'll be ever doing relic quests again. 100+ hours and a LOT of gils must be worth it to my eyes.

lol if u think Zeta will mean anything after 3.0....u are for a rude awakening....Zeta will just let u get ahead on the new relic for 3.0 outside of that , outdated weapon is outdated , will probably last until u get your 1 weapon at lvl 60 but thats how its...

Just hope SE learned a lesson of two from the relic reborn

I'll be annoyed if they make the Zeta grind pretty much mandatory as I'm sure many others would be.

I would assume that they would create a new roulette with decent rewards. Much like a High level roulette combined with the trials and main scenario to create a "level 50 Main Scenario" Roulette
If they wanted to keep the 4 and 8 man content separate (although at 50 there is only Snowcloak and Keeper of the lake that isn't an 8 man event) They could leave those 2 dungeons in the high level roulette where they currently are.

    Castrum
    Praetorium
    Ifrit (Hard)
    Garuda (Hard)
    Titan (Hard)
    Mog
    Leviathan
    Ramuh
    Shiva
    Nabriales
    Steps of Faith

    Snowcloak
    Keeper of the lake

Considering that it already operates like this with 3 separate roulettes (Main Scenario, Trials, High level) You could still maintain high level and trial roulette but now the main scenario roulette will offer one directly focused at helping people through the main story. It just seems odd that they still have a roulette category that only has Castrum and Praetorium only.

I highly doubt that Zeta will offer anything special considering the 3 new jobs wont even have access to the quest at all which means if the job specific Zeta offered any major perks it would then make the new jobs instantly disadvantaged.
