Yoshi already talked about it , we know that Zeta isnt going to continue in Heavensward and that Zeta users will get an advantage for the new relic (maybe avoid the fist steps of the quest ...stil unknow)
New relic will start on 3.1 btw.

I know Yoshi talked about it, he didn't ever say what the advantage will be though, and he's made plenty of statements where he changed his mind later (look at personal housing for example). People are just speculating that it will help you with progression when it could be something completely different such as a ilvl/stat bonus, or the ability to retain the stats you chose during the scroll stage. Any bonus would be better than simply handing out free 1st stage relics to replace them.
Like I said, I'm fully expecting them to screw everybody with a Zeta over, that way I won't be disappointed regardless. Problem is that people simply won't participate in a new grind if they know that every expansion their progress is going to be erased after 100+ hours worth of effort with nothing to show for it. They already announced there will be a token system to obtain raid weapons of your choosing in 3.0 so that already gives people less incentive to grind for a weapon to begin with.
He hasn't even said they will have an advantage. He's only said that players who have completed the relic would be "taken into consideration", which could literally mean anything. He could award you the title "The Grinder" or mail you three pink dyes, and his promise will have been fulfilled.
I do not think the current relic line needs to be "worth it" for old content to survive in the future. They have more than enough ways of sending us back through the old content without even factoring in the current relic quest.
So you're telling me I have until 3.1 to get it? I hope so, because im a returning player and have my ninjas relic almost to animus. still a looooong way to go and if my effort is going to be for naught ill just get a tomestone weapon and call it good.

with absolute certainty, you have until at least 3.1 before the new relic is added.
With absolute certainty, the current relic won't magically become unavailable.
