Actually, try 2009. At least, that's when I stopped playing FFXI seriously. I still check back in occasionally, and I've done a few quests in Abyssea, but I don't pretend to be an expert on how things have changed in the past two years.

Though unless something about NMs has recently changed in a dramatic way, I don't see how they could be considered "fun."

I hope you do realize whats "Fun" for one person may not be "Fun" for another. I found camping NM's extremly fun, NM's mind you not HNMs
