    Will you quit if this game becomes raid-centric?

    So apparently they are going to be making most rare stuff come from raids, and are going to mess up the claim system (see http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/t...-world-content)

    I'm assuming that would mean no sky or sea like areas, no HNM dragons, no roaming nms (whats to stop me from generating mass hate and kiting it away from those fighting it to grief them). etc.

    So if this game becomes heavily focused on raids and doesn't have an expansive world like FFXI had, will you still play the game?

    Note: This is not a troll or doom and gloom post. FFXI's expansive open world was one of the things that set it apart from other MMOs.

    Personally I'd leave for tera or a game with better raids like the new Star Wars. I love FFXIV but raiding gets boring since its just the same repetitive thing over and over and over again for months till a new one is released.

    You are totally right. I'm guessing they plan on keeping the game small, non expansive and grind centric.

    Any good developer would!

    which I'm assuming means there's a low chance of getting stuff like gods where you compete over nms for trigger items, low chance of hnms, low chance of roaming nms that don't spawn instantly, etc.

    edit: I mean yoshida is pretty well saying that he intends to reduce competition.... look at FFXI. What is almost everything in the main world centered on? COMPETITION.

    Uh, did you forget gods were instanced (pop triggers anyone?) and were for raids?

    Gods were not instanced..... One, you had to compete with others to claim the trigger-nm's to get the items to pop gods. Then you popped gods OUTSIDE and not in an instance, so other parties could watch you fight and even steal claim if you died. I'm not saying thats necessarily all good but how would a non-competitive god system work?

    The only solution i can think of is make them like the current roaming NMs where everything pops after 5minutes. And those got boring really fast.

    You just gave an example of what you are complaining about.
    Tu`lia and Lumoria gods were open world content - Assaults, Salvage, Nyzul (to an extent) were Instanced content. I personally would quit as it would just further the reason to not be on the overworld other than to enter an instance, which means besides cities, you won't really see anyone on the outside world beyond what needs to be done (e.g hit 24, start raiding.)

    Even the storyline is instanced for the most part...instancing while helpfully generally killed the MMO genre in some ways.

    You say this as if it were a bad thing.

    Which was poor design, gave room for a ton of e-peen measuring and drama between shells. That's not what any of us need.

    * The sad thing is that FFXIV turned RDM into a turret, and people think that's what it's supposed to be. It's supposed to combine sword and magic into something more, not spend the bulk of gameplay spamming spells and jump into melee for only 3 GCDs before scurrying back to the back line like good little casters.

    I will not quit the game if it becomes raid-centric but they need to be good fun raids. Please no more long halls where I run from everything and stand in blue circles and try to fight a grand total of 2 bosses while trying my hardest to avoid every other living thing in the instance.

    I have 8 crafts at 50. All I did was watch T.V. and spam standard for easy mode synths. Enjoy leveling those crafts in 1.19 and beyond everyone!

    This. They tried to make raids "a bit different" from wow etc, and look what we have now... To make them better IMHO, Raids should have a lot more bosses (at least 5-6 per raid) no time.. (it's a no sense for me..) And trash repop after about 1h ? (in wow it was 2-3 hours if i remember well), and first of all harder bosses (batraal is a good start btw) .. So if you wipe, you should try boss over and over .. without do the trash train again and again.. Please don't say that it will become a wow clone etc, Because atm the actual overall raid system it's NOT FUN .. If they want keep the time limit, they should make a distinction from raid, and dungeon .. 1h timer is good for a 4 man dungeon.. But raids should be at least 3-4 hours of gameplay, something that you can do with your ls in 2 days (even 1 with an hardcore one) ..
