The part about us being more or less helpless without our weapons is starting to annoy me. I know the level of the character is not nearly as important a factor in determining the outcome of a battle as in 1.0 but does it really all come down to what weapon/gear we have now, i.e. ilvl? Is that all we are after all we have accomplished, just as good as the tool and with a poor weapon our skill, strength and experience counts for nothing except to allow us to wield better weapons/tools? That's a rather sad way to look at character progression if that is the general gist.

To pop that theory they did make a point of showing how two of the Scions were pretty much defenseless without their weapons due to being captured by the garleans during the earlier story line portion. Minfillia, Papylmo and Urianger were taken by white armored chick and were all tied all and stuff and they were helpless as newborn babes without their weapons.

Note that I am not saying it is wrong but if it is right, it really makes me think a lot less of the characters, including my own, since all we are in terms of skill is the weapon/tool we wield. It would validate the insane gear grind I suppose but that is the part of the game that I hate the most.
