It's so uber cowardish and I simply can't see any reason for this behavior we are forced to.

It's pointless to tell them the facts. They don't want to hear/read them. They will deny them over and over again.

As said many times, it is indeed the story. But it is a forced story, as if we had to read a book where the main character suddenly behaves stupid, so the story can go on. And people should tell this the story write, so he/she maybe will stop doing such forced things. Especially in a G A M E, where the players control the main character, not the author.

Facts? What facts? The only pertinent FACT is that by playing the game, you have signed an unwritten contract to the developers to relinquish control of your character to them during cutscenes. That way you go where and do what the story tells you to do, for better or worse. It's the basis of the (MMO)JRPG genre.

Don't despair, though. If you don't like this irrefutable, immutable FACT, there is a way to overcome it and create an alternate ending or scenario. Yep! It's really quite simple!

    You stop playing the game.

Look enought of this, you guys went too far of the original Topic that was talked here. Now this is just ridculus, One that that says nonsess things and doesnt wanna hear orthers opinions, and the order that keeps insisting and it only makes this discuccion even longer and longer, give up she will never change she's opinion.

Heavensward comes on 2 months, just have little more pacient, then we will now who was right and who not.

Don't tell me not to get in internet fights with people! This is very important stuff that has long-reaching consequences!

But, I suppose you are right. Perhaps I should make a separate topic so I can continue my internet fights with people.

    Meh, too much effort.

They are selling a product. If someone is selling you chocolate, but it's just paper or the wrong taste, you would say, that they tricked you. It's the same when I play a ROLE PLAY game and can't ROLE PLAY, because I'm simply forced to look at my character being turned into something completely different by an author who should not do this.

There are simply core rules in game design. Taking the control over the character is one of the big nogo's and even cutscenes for the mood are... not actually good, they are neutral. But the worst is, if you force the character of the player into doing something she or he would never do.

Of course you CAN do this. As a developer you could also just put the picture of penguins playing football into a game which got nothing to do with penguins or football. But you shouldn't.

And these rules are far older than you and don't care what you or I say about them.

Yes, Square can do what they want. They actually DO what they want, that's why this story is forced and - down to the control over our own character - out of our control. It IS like that. That is also a fact. But there is really, really, really, really no reason to like that.

The control over your own character is one of the primal core rules of game design. And the more the own character is forced into strange behavior, the worse it it.

That's a simply fact of game design AND story writing in games. No matter if you, or me, or whoever is accepts this or not.

IF we could control our character, but the situation simply does not allow it to be solved by us, because we lack the power to do so, that would be 100% okay. No one says, that everything must be beatable, this rule does not exists in case of story elements ( of course in actual gameplay you must have the chance to "win").

Someone at Square may read my or other complains and think about it or not. I don't know what you are writing all your posts for. Just to troll? I don't know. I don't follow your posts and troll you like that, for what?

People saw the story being told a different way to the way you saw it being told, they're not trolling, they're posting their interpretations, as are you.
