Mind numbing? Yes. But still a hell of a lot less mind numbing than running a minimum 30 minute 24 man raid over and over with a small chance of the armor pieces you want dropping, and of you actually getting them each time. Additionally, a lot of people have barely touched SCoB, let alone learned FCoB, and having to put up with the bad attitudes and perfection required for FCoB for gear that is guaranteed to be outdated in less than 3 months? I don't think a lot of the more casual people will bother.

I have a feeling that the system doesn't allow there to be two uncapped tomestones at once, and they don't want to add a new capped tomestone this close to the expansion.
BCoB and SCoB were unlocked when next tier showed up, not so with FCoB.

Annnnd this. 100% agreed. Bad enough I probs wont do coil ever again after this week ( unless for fun? idk ), imagine if I never needed to run a single dungeon again until expansion =_=

Because poetic gear is the easiest and fastest way to gear up your characters with very decent loot (without really needing skill in challenging content) that can further be upgraded to i130. While grinding the loot in FCoB requires skilled players and grinding the loot in WoD requires repetition and time commitments while gambling against RNG.

SE wants to make sure people still got things to do lol.

    1. hardcore mechanic content (coil)
    2. Crafting
    3. Tomestones
    4. PVP
    5. social raids (24 mans)
    6. Questing (zodiac)
    not in ffxiv
    7. armor mods (have a piece of armor be made out of 3 items, and be able to switch any of the sub items to make entirely new armor)
    8. Cash shop
    9. Persistent object (pick up a sword off the ground, for only that battle)
    10. heirloom (build the treadmill right into leveling)
    11. pre-set setups (determined by the game itself)
    12. Mutations (your sword is generated directly from your body, as a bone blade of death; skill point based weapons)

Not saying all of these are great gear methods, but naming complete.

I'm sorry. Servers have been down, and trying to come up with a list of gear methods helped to entertain me for 30 mins or so.

    Purely for the fun.

    Carry on!

Hmm, it is odd, as the unlocking of the previous Coil scenarios coincided with the introduction of a new capped currency and a new raid. Obviously they want to make Final Coil easier to experience for more people before the expansion hits and it becomes somewhat irrelevant, though it would be strange if the loot lockout was still in place. Given the fact that you can use Duty Finder I'm inclined to say there will be no loot restrictions (aside from just how successful DF groups could be...). It's very likely the small patches from now until expansion will gradually add Echo to further give people a chance to take them down before they're obsolete.

As for tomestones still being capped it's a bit at-odds with Coil, assuming it is unlimited loot...especially considering a lot of players still won't have access to it. Then again we still have a whole 3 months until the expansion with nothing more substantial being added after today's patch. Perhaps they should've at least increased the cap to 650 or something so it's possible to get a Magitek weapon in 2 weeks rather than 3. Maybe they'll lift it completely shortly before the expansion just so everyone can go wild with all the 2.X stuff before the game moves on.

It was this way with the previous one too. The tomestones went into Syrcus Tower in 2.38 and poetics was introduced in 2.4, which is also when soldiery was uncapped and myth was phased out. I'm not sure why anyone is surprised. Poetics will uncap when we get the next tome. We've never had more than one currency uncapped at the same time.

I think they learned from their past mistake with making the tomestone a drop in the tower. For 2-3 weeks there's a frenzy to get it, and then it slowly becomes worthless trash. This way, it basically extends the content.

You have 10 weeks to get 4500 poetics which you can then upgrade to i130 with free twines/coats, unrestricted WoD plus t10 will be the new t6 soon. I fail to see how there's a shortage of ways to get multiple jobs to i130 before 3.0 hits.
