Umm, so I just looked at the post regarding "stop buying gil.", and he was directly referring to "the players" as a society, not individuals in this thread. and he is right. As long as players have a significant incentive to buy gil, RMT will continue to thrive.

Keep in mind, RMT aren't garage programmers, these are legitimate companies, with legitimate development resources. any perceivable restriction SE comes up with to combat them, they re going to work their way around. and in the meantime, that's one more thing that players cant do or say.

the only way to stop it, is to eliminate the economy itself, making gil worthless. and I don't think SE is willing to scrap a major part of their game.

I filtered my tells into another chat log, and check them every 30 mins or so, via a quick scroll. not complicated in the slightest.

Firstly, good job stating exactly what everyone in this thread already knows. Secondly yes, sifting through 500 spam tells to see if I MIGHT have gotten a legit one is a great idea.

sorry, based on the immediate responses, it looked like a lot of people DIDNT realize what "the players" meant, and took it personally. it happens.

Second of all, gil buying wont stop with only temp banning the gil buyers. most of the people that I suspect have bought gil, have been new players, that legitimately didn't know any better. they got these tells, thought they were legit, and thought they would get a head start via rmt.

SE also needs to do a MUCH better job of educating new players about this. right now, they don't.

    Now, my opinion...

Shards are at a 3 month low, due to increased RMT activity. My profit margins for making my own gil, are at 3 month highs as a result. I'm happy with the way things are.

One thing to consider is that player activity is lower right now due to patch lifecycle. The same number of new spam bots may be being created but fewer targets means that you are more likely to get hit when a bot /tells a random group of players.

an acc ban will be a good start for the education lesson, both seller and buyer

an account ban for the buyer means a lost legitimate customer. based on how much they are charging for the expansion, SE cant afford to be losing paying customers right now, they are running low on them.

a warning might & might not stop ppl from buy gil. If player get a warning every time they buy gil from RMT & no further action, no one will stop. If the player get ban when he/she buy gil from RMT, other will have to think twice before they buy gil

Unless you have a really good link for that, you're just spouting fear uncertainty and doubt.

Not to mention that going by the rule that exists in the terms and conditions we sign up to, there is nothing legitimate about a player who buys gil.

I still think that if SE doesn't want to outright ban gil buyers, they should just bust all their classes back to lvl 1 and let them spend the time they re-level everything, thinking about their wrong doing.
