Did the OP really need to bump this thread from last month? SE's stance on content hasn't changed since 2013 launch and doesn't appear to be changing anytime soon.

I direct you to my words from the first day of this thread.Final Fantasy (the series) was never an easy game, yet noone was whineing to nerf it down! Noone asked Squaresoft to fix a bossfight so they can beat it! They practiced and eventually won.
So I really don't see a difference, because I payed for FFXIV and I knew what I payed for (and still pay for) so NO, I won't let whiney kids or lazy adults make SE nerf it down to their lvl just because they cant beat every boss or content in the game!
I'm not perfect eighter, I havent beated every content, but instead of whineing, I practice (when I have time) with friends, guild, PF, and become better at it!
Actually I really don't understand why do people think they must beat every boss in FFXIV (or every NPC in Triple Triad) and if they are not skilled enough then SE has to nerf that content down to their skill level!
I just want to protect FFXIV from halfwits who wish to get this great game nerfed down even more, and more!I think the 'hard' people are angrily defending is the same 'hard' that tends to gate content to where only the supra-geared can participate. This level of 'hard' tends to render games niche', which is all well and good if it's free to play and getting the supra-gear is as simple as a 5 dollar purchase. This is a subscription game, not only is everyone paying to play, their 10 dollars a month also affords them the right to any and all content they wish to enjoy. If said content winds up gated behind supra-gear gates, then those people clearly aren't getting their money's worth and will either quit playing till the supra-gear becomes available by other means or just quit. This can mean less subscriptions, which means less money coming in and a shorter lifespan for the game.
So, that said, do you want things to be 'harder'?
And yet WOW has around 10 million subs, what you are saying is false, Wildstar only failed because it funneled players into its hardcore style, other mmos dont actually do that, same with FF14.
If what you say is true, then why hasn't wow died?
who determines those rules?
for me and for many of people, video games are something people play in their free time to entertain themselves. why should we return home from works and spend all our free time and days off working so hard in video games?
I'm glad SE listened to people like me more than people like OP. now we'll have Alexander normal & hard mode. it's a win-win situation. everybody can enjoy new content, hardcore players can spend their weekend learning how to defeat a boss or whatever.
WoW was the first properly accessible MMO. No one leaves WoW for a WoW clone, which is all that really came along afterwards.
Gilraen's post was against making things harder for the sake of being harder (exclusive, gated contented). Not sure what your context is at.
As a WoW player that was in during classic, it was incredibly hard to find a way to get into end game because of how it was designed, especially if you were not one of the beginning players and already in an established guild. How hard? There was no catch up content or gearing method (no tomestones), you had to do series of quests that required dungeons to unlock a raid instance; Think the HM primals with darklight gear, except they were full dungeons and there was no match making queue at the time. So not only did you have to do old content to catch up to raids, you needed to find people who wanted to do old content.
I haven't played wildstar, but I heard that the process of getting into the dungeons and attunements are similar to that of vanilla WoW. Having come from there, I probably wouldn't even get into end game in wildstar and just drop it. I stopped playing in vanilla WoW because I had no way of accessing end game content when I hit 60.
Make harder content without excluding the playerbase from it. That's what things like Heroic/Mythological raids or savage mode is for.
Not sure which Final Fantasy games you've played, but pretty much all of them are easy. FFXIII and it's 'sequels' are arguably the tougher ones, but mostly because the fights require tactics rather than simply having a bigger sword.
In all previous games the idea is basically 'go forth and level up some' then come back and stomp that boss into goo. Anyone who at least fought their fights instead of running away would be strong enough to face the next boss. The grinding players would see them as mere fleas. They also had many, MANY exploitable mechanics such as stacking Ultima spells on stats in FF8 or Final Attack - Phoenix in FF7.
Also note that there isn't a single 'super boss' which gates story content in a FF game. They're all optional and rarely have much, if any, story to them. This includes mobs like the Ruby and Emerald weapons from FF7, Omega from multiple games or Penance from FFX.
The FF13 final boss was as tough as reinforced concrete, but that's really an exception in an otherwise casual list of games.
I just heard Wildstar crashed and burned due to attracting the cancerous hardcore gamers and the community was filled with filth that rivaled League of Legends' community. I love challenging end game content but there's no denying that games built around hardcore end game content will attract those kinds of gamers. It isn't the content that drags those games down, it's who is attracted to that content. I mean I have my moments where I'm not nice to people but generally people who sneak into my PRO ONLY FARM groups and well... suck in which case I need to remove them if they under perform. But I ain't no where near the people you'd find in Wildstar or LoL.
SE's balance of content difficulty has allowed the community a nice mixture of people so I can actually FIND people I can tolerate and thank god for that... as long as I still got difficult content I'll be fine.
OMG why people focus on Coil T5 T9 T13 I never said anything about Coils!
Why can't some people understand that what I'm saying is, unless something is really f.ked up by the development team, it should not get nerfed because of low skilled lazy players whineing!
Triple Triad will get nerfed soon... WHYYYY?
Why do people want to Nerf everything they're too lazy to practice to become better at it?
Triple Triad is NOT a Main Story issue people!!!
I and many others were able to get better at it by practice, but lazy players want to get everything handed to them fast and easy, it's soo pathetic!
...and whats even more pathetic is people who try to explain their lazyness and argue with me! (and many of us who like FFXIV as it is!!)
People like me will protect FFXIV from lazy players silly wishes of nerfing everything instantly cause they are too lazy to play the game and get better at it!
