9 months is a lot of time. Certainly 5 years for example is even longer; but that does not make 9 months any less of a long time.

As did I. I don't have anything left from my legacy time as a result, apart from a bonus fantasia.
But that is fine with me, because after all it was I that decided to stop playing (whether by choice or not)

Aye, they move on. Moving on means letting go. I recently left WoW. Not the first time I've done so, but it took me 10 years to do while also deleting all of my characters. What would the point be in keeping my characters if I dont play?

In case I want to come back? In case you want to come back?
You didn't pay for the game for 9 months. Exactly on what basis do you assume that you have a right to hold game content ''hostage'' just in the case you might come back?

If a house is that important for someone they will find a way to keep their house.

Why do you think plots are limited? Part of the reason is due to FC/personal sharing wards. But a huge reason as well is because a) people own multiple plots, and b) a lot of plots are owned by players that either make no use of their house or don't even play the game.(anymore)

Your number comparison of the cactpot and amount of plots is a poor argument. It actually shows a favorable amount of plots compared to the amount of actively playing people. Less then 1/5 of people even have the desire to obtain a house to begin with; and that includes those that only use it for the convienient teleporting/mb/gardening or ''just because''

when you spend time playing the game, you got to make priorities, and if buying a house isn't a priority with the time u got, then you won't make it. putting other stuff aside like relic, dailies or raiding to save money for a house it's perfectly doable. you just got to prioritize what you want.
From what I can tell a lot of (smaller houses, and perhaps medium) are bought just for the sake of having a house rather then people really wanting one. Personally I wouldnt mind if they added something you had to do on a daily (for example, doesnt have to be daily per se) basis for 3 months to be able to buy a house at all. (regardless of its cost or size)
That wouldnt really help with the current plots, but with new plots it should give more of a chance for anyone that reaaally wants that house to obtain one, rather then someone that buys it and never uses it.

In other words, have it involve a grind that isnt gil related.

You sir, are my new favorite person on these boards.

But yes, I've already said over and over my stance, and already posted my idea. But with regards to plots reseting, while it could be still only a small bandaid to the current housing crisis, here's my 2 cents, along with those of other people from other housing threads that explain the point perhaps better than I'll ever do.

If they did add the reset feature, you could prevent losing your house by simply not unsubscribing and actually USE the house plot you took from other potential owners. It's no matter how much effort you put into something. If you don't use it, you don't need it. 10-15€/$ a month is not that big of an issue to pay for to keep a house, or hell, just have an FC mate log in and actually use the house to keep it up. It's just really sad to me how many people don't seem to use their houses daily as I do. Wards are ghost towns at the moment (and the funny thing is that Yoshida said they implemented neighborhoods because players demanded them. I wonder where those are players now? Maybe waiting for their house still.)

It's nothing personal and I share owners' feelings, but remember that house owners consist of 2% of the population, so they're still a minority and the uprage wouldn't be that great, not bigger than the uproar that was had when housing and personal housing were first implemented. And most important of all, the efforts and understandable feelings of a few (like yourself) are not superior to the amounts of currently abandoned ghost houses of players that will probably never return that are right now in the oldest wards. I've made my searches and though I cannot put down names, I know there's at least 3-4 long abandoned FC houses in each housing areas as of now.

No one can decide when people will be back or if they ever will, so it feels unfair to wait for them forever while other players are locked out of the content.

Not fair is hoarding an unused house with no subscription fee and expecting homeless players to just ignore the horse in the room that is hoarding it for when you come back some day (TM). That's a pretty warped idea of what you think is fair there.

All the suggestions are great, and even if they only implemented the idea of having housing relinquished of those who don't use it, it'd be a great bandaid to slap on to the problem that active servers experience with the demand not being met with supply.
