Late side note: My boyfriend mentioned to me that he read somewhere that new players would be able to start the jobs at a lower level (or even level 1, but those with a character at a higher level/an older account would be able to start the new jobs at a higher level. I didn't come across that information myself (and we can't seem to find it either), so if that's accurate then part of my previous post is invalid and please ignore it. ^.^"

I personally think classes are done for. My hope was that they would use the expansion to resolve some of the awkwardness and criticisms of the overall class, job and armory systems. It appears that won't happen.

However, rather than be removed, I think they will stay. From a lore standpoint, they still make sense. New characters wouldn't be 'awakened' or 'aware' to any of the jobs and their existence. New characters also wouldn't be skilled enough to even explore any of the job paths yet.

Mechanically, they are still awkward. Yes, classes have better solo-ability, but my experiences show each current job is solo-able enough that many players don't even bother switching to the class when soloing (that could change with Heavensward).

    Here is the answer.

“We were actually recently deciding what to call these jobs that don’t have a base class, and we’ve decided to call them ‘Extra Jobs.’ Just like when you can switch to different jobs when you’re at level 30, that applies to these as well. As long as any class or job is at level 30, you’ll be able to access any of these three new jobs.”
