If you already played crafting in FF XI, then you should already see this coming. ^^;

iirc, all craft/gather jobs can go up to level 60, then you must choose one and only that one that can go all the way to level 100. That way, it will require multiple ppl specializing on certain craft to help others.
Also, you can change other craft/gather job to go to level 100, but that means you need to reset the previous lvl 100 class back to lvl 60.

It's look like very bad idea ...
Actually its a great idea that does wonder for the market boards, and give other crafters more opportunities to make more gil. If everybody can just make everything, then the market boards will be vacant. Now that that 5 star chef, or that specialization chef is a lil more rare, he can put some value to his goods.
And I know this topic is old, and is in the wrong place... but... crafters, please stop undercutting your fellow craftsman. If you see a ring in for 15,000 put yours in for 15,000. Example...
15,000
15,000
15,000
15,000
From this group of 4 rings, what does the consumer have to pay? Is it a trick question? No, he has to play 15k. Regardless of when your item will sell, he will have to pay. Your item will sell, and you will get your money, there is no need to undercut this price by 2k, 1 gil, 6k, there simply is no reason. Get your money, and quit ruining prices of goods. LOL
Yeah but I can sell 2 at 14k while you're still sitting on 15k..
Then if I do that for a long time, you'll be out of the market so I can have a monopoly and jack my prices up to 30k and be the only person selling it until somebody new comes along.
Come on now, you already know why people do it.. You just want it to be easier. There are other markets where there's very little competition, if you're comfortable sitting on an item for a while, which it looks like you are, then I'd just do that. Change your market to no competition, little demand and just let the item sit for a few days to sell.
tell me whats the point of the aromory system and all that then? one of the selling points of ff is to be able to do everything on one character it all disapears if something like that is implemented.
How it goes is this: All crafting can go to up to 60. (Fishing is not bound by this and other gathering does not have any levelling.) Every craft is capped every ten levels until you do the uncapping quest with a guildmaster. You have a total of forty "master levels". You can only have forty levels above 60 over all skills (except fishing). You can put them all into one skill and level that skill to 100. Or you can level four crafts to 70. Or any other distribution of the forty you want, but generally you'll portion the levels out in chunks of ten because that's how the caps work. If you level a skill and already have 40 levels above 60, you will delevel a random skill. So you don't uncap skills you aren't going to level; this prevents you from levelling a skill when you don't want to. You can also talk to guildmasters and reset your cap (and your skill) back to 60 if you want to reallocate.iirc, all craft/gather jobs can go up to level 60, then you must choose one and only that one that can go all the way to level 100. Here's a discussion on ZAM, which has always been a pretty good source on FFXI. Apparently they upped the threshhold to 70 and the top level to 110 since I was playing. As far as the level caps unlocked by the guildmasters, that's abundantly obvious to anyone who's levelled a craft to 10 in FFXI, since you then stop levelling that skill until you go get it unlocked by the guildmaster.
