Now now. I'm sure there exists penalties out there that can penalize players for trying to outrun unmounted enemies while on their mounts that are less annoying and still get the point across. Frankly, I can just use Fist of Wind on my monk and run through a crowded area without taking a heavy penalty anyways... I've been doing that more and more these days not like these level 40-50 npcs are gonna kill me while I'm running anyways lol.

But the mount is still faster and cooler... hmm... Plus it wouldn't be such a huge issue if it weren't for the fact that nearly everywhere I gotta go in the overworld has obscene amounts of aggro like the Sylphlands all I gotta say is helloooooooo aggro... meh

even with the slightest bit of paying attention this can be avoided, just run behind the enemies... and even then it happens so rarely, go find something else to complain about.

Honestly, even when I'm Heavied I just keep going on my mount and ignore the mobs. And when I'm on my WHM, I dismount, Esuna, Dash and remount once I'm clear. It's one of the most nonsensical designs of this game. The mobs are so trivial that they don't pose any danger, making the Heavy debuff just an annoyance and nothing but an annoyance.

If by the Heavy debuff I face the danger of death, then the debuff would make sense. But now? I can only attribute it to an inexplicable moment of enlightenment on the dev team. We'll never understand it, and we'll probably never understand why it will remain in the game for ever and ever.

I don't understand how your ideology is even practical. Do you seriously run around the overworld treating this like a game of Metal Gear Solid where you gotta sneak past enemies by making sure you're running behind them? Feels like you just fabricated some excuse to tell someone to stop complaining about something.

"Yeah just make sure you're running past them with their backs turned to you. You gotta wait for them to move a certain distance out of line of sight and then wait for patrols to run back. If it's looking towards you, just wait for it to turn its back to you."

Stop lol. If I gotta go through all that trouble just to avoid a heavy debuff while riding a mount it'd be faster to get off my mount and pop sprint.

the LOS on this game is actually very sensitive... take for instance running into the horrible Natalan area for ixali quest. The enemies can be facing me but have their heads turned away even for a second and the will not argo. Or the stupid frogs in Mor Dhona, simply gliding to the left or right instead of just running through things like whatever.

It does not take you dismounting and changing into a gathering class then hitting stealth... just pay attention and don't run right into their face is all i'm saying

They really are that easy to avoid. Especially in the sylphlands. It's not a matter of standing there and waiting for them to turn. If they are facing one way, you simply run behind them. Nothing MGS about it.

It's actually more difficult in the deeper areas of the sahagin and amalj'aa areas.

Heavy doesn't bother me, though. If I was running to catch a fate or a node or a hunt mark, those 20 seconds usually don't make a difference if I was already late.

Metal Gearing my way through enemies doesn't take time and can be quite faster than just going leeroy and hoping for the best. 99% of enemies aggro on sight alone but I noticed enemies like the Mudpuppies seem to aggro purely on proximity/sound.

thank you... i was most certainly NOT talking about stoping and taking your time with each mob... you don't even stop running, just strife to the left or right a little lol.

The fact that a mob can still agro when your 30+ ilvls above it is also dumb.
They never aggro if you're 10 levels above them. Even if you're craft or gathering class, a monster won't attack you.
