Okay, so until these new methods of travel arrive, why can we not at least have even lesser anima costs? The folks in XI got teleports to all crystals by the lowly level of 41WHM, and the luxury of OP warps, for just a handful of gil per trip.Given the context of the OP, I'm guessing you are making a motion to completely remove anima simply because it can run out, and then adversely affect the decision to even play.
Given that interpretation, I'd like to say that the solution targets the wrong problem. The problem posed is that travel is inefficient. The solution (which is coming) is mounts and airships. When those arrive, I bet anima problems will be reduced since most people will mainly use it in immediate need situations. It will likely become a resource more valuable to the time-starved solo casual player.
Anima abuse, on the other hand, is a problem that could possibly be solved by the abolition of anima, though I would likely argue against such extreme methods.
Chocobos are coming in the next major patch. Why waste time tweaking anima if you're gonna have to just change it again in a month or so (hopefully)?
Because I don't honestly see what it would hurt to try and retain some of the playerbase in saying, "Sure, go on out and bounce around the globe killing things/exploring if that's your thing -- you're happy, I'm happy".
I say tough beans for those people. Sorry they can't curb their impatience.
A.) Because there are more important things to worry about, and once those more important things to worry about are addressed, anima teleportation will no longer be an issue.
B.) Because what's the point of having this huge semi-seamless world if all anybody does is zip zop zoobidy bop to wherever they wanna go all the time?
@B.) Because now, after the Leve-boom has subsided, there is an actual world to experience that (somewhat) requires you to leave the confines of Thanalan, for one.I say tough beans for those people. Sorry they can't curb their impatience.

And how do you experience that world if you can instantly teleport back and forth across it at will?
How many people even know that Coerthas and Mor Dhona share a boundary, and you don't have to run through Black Shroud to get from one to another?
Give them reasons to go out and explore? Things outside of the bindings of Levequests?

I learned that about 2 weeks after the game launched, as there was nothing to do but explore the world. Im about done exploring.
