Hi everyone! I come to this thread with a question concerning Mutilate. I posted this on the ffxiv subreddit, but I wanted to see some opinions here. I've heard from more than one person that Mutilate is a waste of TP, and that they are parsing even better when it is not included in their rotation.

Sorry if this question was already asked, but that seems weird to me, seeing how mutilate has pretty good potency all around.

And someone told me today that they got better DPS going full skill speed instead of Crit/Det. . .

Anyway, for your example:

Mutilate is 60 potency plus 300 dot potency. With Storm Path or Dancing Edge, that's 66+300=366 potency per GCD.

Spinning Edge plus Shadow Fang is 150 potency plus 200 potency plus 240 dot potency. SP/DE makes that (165+220+240)/2=625/2=312.5 potency per GCD.

Spinning plus Gust plus Aeolian is 150+200+320 potency. SP/DE makes it (165+220+352)/3=737/3=245.7 potency per GCD.

To put it in context, even if you didn't have to combo Aeolian, you would still Mutilate and let it run its duration, because Mutilate is better damage per GCD if it gets all 10 ticks in.

Mutilate is almost your best damage per TP spent.

im sure a lot of people noticed, but moving+mudras makes it a bit slower

measured in amount of seals you can spam before ninjutsu buff wears off

good condition - 13 seals standing still, 12 seals while moving
regular - 12 seals standing, 11 seals moving, 10 sometimes

I'm aiming for 600+ on T10+11, 550+ T12, and 500+ T13 next week. I checked the tapes of this weeks, aside from t13, where no Dragon Kick was #struggles, so I know what I need to do, insert training montage music here

Haha i know all too well about the no DK struggle of t13. If I can get 600+ with my mudra delay next week i'll flip my sh!t. Not to mention these dumb hands, head, and ring absolutely refuse to drop just one time.

600 is hard solo with near-perfect mudras like i have. I don't think you'll be able to get it, unfortunately.
