Hi everyone! I come to this thread with a question concerning Mutilate. I posted this on the ffxiv subreddit, but I wanted to see some opinions here. I've heard from more than one person that Mutilate is a waste of TP, and that they are parsing even better when it is not included in their rotation.

Sorry if this question was already asked, but that seems weird to me, seeing how mutilate has pretty good potency all around.

And someone told me today that they got better DPS going full skill speed instead of Crit/Det. . .

Anyway, for your example:

Mutilate is 60 potency plus 300 dot potency. With Storm Path or Dancing Edge, that's 66+300=366 potency per GCD.

Spinning Edge plus Shadow Fang is 150 potency plus 200 potency plus 240 dot potency. SP/DE makes that (165+220+240)/2=625/2=312.5 potency per GCD.

Spinning plus Gust plus Aeolian is 150+200+320 potency. SP/DE makes it (165+220+352)/3=737/3=245.7 potency per GCD.

To put it in context, even if you didn't have to combo Aeolian, you would still Mutilate and let it run its duration, because Mutilate is better damage per GCD if it gets all 10 ticks in.
