So did Niellefresne actually die? I don't remember if he died or if he was just critically wounded (not that I really care).

Peach Parfait/Khulan Angura on Gilgamesh
Btw, just to clarify here I think it is a bit sad that we have to have this debate. The crash at Mor'dhana was a major event in Eorzean history, and we have to have a debate over whether it's Bahamut or not because we don't have the necessary information to call it such.
This isn't something that should be speculated about, because most of the inhabitants of Eorzea should be able to recall the events.

That's what I was thinking. It could have just been a rather large dragon, as they are known to not really like people and they populate the area near Ishgard which isn't far from Mor Dhona. Also isn't Bahamut usually more of a humanoid dragon?
The fact of the matter is that no other NPC has ever said a word about the dragon coiled around the enormous airship. It is such an eyesore in the distance you would think someone would mention SOMETHING. But no one has, also if it truely is Bahamut why would it sit there and decay? The dragon looked pretty on in years when it took down the airship in the first place. If it really is the almighty Bahamut why wouldn't he just desummon back into the aether?Btw, just to clarify here I think it is a bit sad that we have to have this debate. Too many unanswered questions. Both sides are 50/50, you don't have enough evidence to call it Bahamut as I don't have enough to say its someone else. Its an unnamed dragon.
Yeah i'm fairly sure he is dead. Although you never really find out who the killer is >.<, but from the story at that point I have a good guess who it could be.
The story is something which I have a great interest in as I am trying to figure out how they will tie all this together with the zone redesigns, companies and everything else that is coming into the game. I don't know why but I have this sneaking suspicion that we are currently playing a prequel of sorts to what the game will actually be once the PS3 version ships. What I mean is that much of the build up to these events will have already happened. When PS3 players log in, the world will have changed, the zones redesigned, the companies will have arrived, and all the missions and quests that build up to this coming event will have happened. I believe the 7th Umbral Era will be in full swing and the PS3 players will not have the same game experience that we have had as everything will be different.
So that got me thinking how will they tie all this together, how will they explain the lands changing with the zone redesign for us as when PS3 players log in the zones we know will no longer exist. I'm really don't know, my best guess is that there will be some kind of time shift you will be pulled into which will take you 20 years or something into the future after this event takes place. This will give the lands time to regrow if they are to be burned and cities/towns time to rebuild.
There are things I am finding strange, like the new Company HQ's, in Limsa I was certain that the entrance was at the bottom of the tower opposite the Chocobo stables. There were Limsa flags around what looks to be an elevator which I assumed would take you to the top of the tower and that would be the HQ. However they have used and instance accessed by the same one as the MW and other things, this seemed very lazy to me and certainly not befitting the prowess that was hinted at for the emergence for the Grand Companies. Then I thought, what if it is a temporary HQ that they are using until the "event" and zone redesign takes place. I mean all the cities have area's which we can not access yet which seemed like they would be much better suited for a Grand Company HQ than what we have now, so why did they put them where they have?
Also when you start the game you hear 3 word's and wake up, hear, feel, think I believe, I found that strange like you were suddenly put there by someone/something your guardian perhaps but why? Maybe everything that is happening now is just like one big Echo that you will awake from back on the boat but things will be different, I doubt that but you never know. There is however something very fishy going on that much I sure of and I can't wait to see how it all comes together.
Is there a part where it's said the Sylphs worship Ramuh? I don't remember it, and my instinct would tell me they're into Carbuncle, or something else.

I would like to know where it says the Sylphs worship Ramuh as well, I would have suspected Carbuncle too.

I was under the impression that the last Ul'dah story quest relates to the ascian(s) as well. When Corguevais suddenly turns from a well-meaning guy who's the scapegoat for a plan gone wrong to someone who steals a little girl and then escapes without her anyway (all the time making a twisted facial expression), both he and Ascilia mention that something far worse than the Garlean Empire is coming, and everyone in Ul'dah will die. It sure seems like this could be related to the acians themselves, or to their scheme to control the primals.
In fact, did anyone check that scene to see if Corguevais has a shadow? Not that they'd necessarily get this right anyway, since the moon phases in the game are all wrong, but...
Great if they can tie in some lore/story explanation but honestly, I would gladly accept the changes to the world we currently have even if there was 0 lore explanation and that they made changes just for the sake of making changes because the zones really need those changes. So that got me thinking how will they tie all this together, how will they explain the lands changing with the zone redesign for us as when PS3 players log in the zones we know will no longer exist. Edit: making up stories to hide the fact that the zones were badly designed might actually be more pathetic than just pretending they were always the way they will be once they change them. I'd actually prefer they just change them than make up stories to explain their changes. They know the zones are bland and lifeless and copy/pasted, why should they hide that they are changing them because of that under some lore.
