I could see this too, however I'm a bit concerned about the fact that so far (I know it's only the verrrry beginning) the grand company missions are identical for all 3 nations, and they appear to be going off on a new story tangent concerning the Archons and Meteor rather than dealing with the issues of each individual city.

To me, ideally, we'll end up with a grand company storyline, the main story vs. the garlean empire AND a home-nation storyline that doesn't necessarily have to be as large and sweeping as the others but could help you to get a feeling for the cities and their backgrounds as well as the problems that trouble them specifically.

I agree with you here compared to the other person. I think the three [actually four] main characters were thrown back into the story simply because players can associate with them, and it helps develop them as characters further. I don't think this is a continuation of the original storylines for each nation.
