Also how about the fact that crystals in Mor Dhona become unaspected? Could it be that Bahamut ( or Shinryu) are sucking the power from all the crystals in the area in order to revive? I bet when they wake up they aren't gonna be happy.

Already mentioned that garleans are sucking the power off the crystals to obtain some sort of mineral (can't recall the name) and awaken their own primal with it.
Again, since I pointed this out to someone else, it is a shame that we have to even have a debate over what the dragon is, since it was such a major event in the history of Eorzea. It's Square's fault that that information isn't easily accessible, and that no characters in the seem to have knowledge of the event other than it was an event. It'd be heresy! HERESY I SAY!! Yeah, would be really odd if it were Bahamut, but highly doubt it. Apparently Platinumstorm hasn't giving any real evidence to support that it is Bahamut. Just that "it has every characteristic of Bahamut". Fail to see the resemblance myself. heh
Its no ones fault why the identity of the dragon isn't public knowledge. Its just the mystery of the event, can't we leave it at that? The mystery will unravel itself soon enough, we just need to be patient and wait for that to happen. I have a feeling in the near future we'll know exactly the significance of the dragon and the airship as the stories intertwine and unfold.Again, since I pointed this out to someone else, it is a shame that we have to even have a debate over what the dragon is, since it was such a major event in the history of Eorzea. Keeping you in the dark over "major events" is a plot device used by many MANY (see: almost every) games, movies, books, television shows...
Not everything is revealed at the start.
It's a shame that we have to debate on the identity of an unknown dragon in the opening cut scene?
Yes there are parts of the game that were annoying, to say the least, however, choosing to leave the identity of the dragon a mystery is not one of them. Especially if knowing (or in this case not knowing), and subsequently finding out becomes a major part of the story
The events of the cinematichappened 15 years ago and had widespread consequences including transforming the world and interrupting the power of the Garleans. This is not a mysterious plot device save for their expulsion of the eikons. The dragon is incredibly large, it would have been well known to the people in Eorzea, and even if it hadn't, the people would have given it a name after such a historic moment that transformed the world. The cinematic is backhistory designed to give players an idea of what has happened in the game. The mystery comes afterwards.Keeping you in the dark over "major events" is a plot device used by many MANY (see: almost every) games, movies, books, television shows...

But the problem is that beastmen have been worshipping the primals for generations. Seeing as the fight between the Garlean airforce and the dragons occurred 15 years before the events of the game (through echo), it wouldn't make sense for them to emerge then. The primals were most likely not in the ship in the opening cs. they were brought into hydalin by the resulting crash and explosion. That's why the imps are so head strong on wiping them and there followers out, they feel responsible for bringing the blight of there existence and there war for dominance to the world.
Cerulium is as far as i can tell not a cocktail of juiced crystals its something totally different. Its the unobtainum powering the war machine that is the empire. The reason there harvesting crystals on mass is most likely to call forth there own primal. Perhaps they realize that if the primals stop there in fighting and focus on them there toast. and are attempting to fight fire with fire.
Platinum storm, the moon was freaking big enough and well-known to the entire populace of earth. However, we really didn't know stuff about it until space-travel and technology became available. Just because something is smack-damn right in our face doesn't mean we can put a name to it, or describe it full detail. Who knows, the dragon may have been hiding in Dravania for a long time, with only Sharlayans or the equivalent holding any lore towards the dragon. So for that to be a mystery is no problem. Heck, everyone knows about the Garlean Empire, yet no-one KNOWS the Garlean Empire. Same thing; they know about the incident, yet the populace of Hydaelyn do NOT know the incident.
The Twelve are termed the benevolent rulers and deities of Eorzea, but the primals may be a further step ahead of them, as the primals of Hydaelyn. The archons, reincarnated in mortal form, may not be necessarily evil in nature. Nor may they be benevolent; they grow up depending on their environment. So perhaps the primals and archons are related somehow, since both are just that; power to be held, neither good nor evil, but powerful. Perhaps that's why the Garlean fears them, or why the evil guy from the Limsa storyline is intrigued in them; the earlier is scared of such power, the latter wishes to harness that power for their own ends.
Has anyone also considered the fact that, if the figures that burst out of the light really were the primals, they may not necessarily have been on the airship, OR summoned by the dragon? The ship crashed right into the lake, nearly dead centre as well. What if the primals had been sleeping under the lake, or sealed underneath it, and when the airship sunk down onto it, the seal burst, releasing the primals? I always thought why the rocks around the lake were glowing in the CG.
Anyhow, that's my two cents.

Not to get my reality chocolate in your fantasy peanut butter. People have been worshiping "Gods" with out direct interaction with them in the real world for a long, long time.
As far as the crash, and the primals "Sleeping" under the lake. Remember the primals use aethritic energy to manifest them self's into the plain hydalin habits. I would imagen that the mor d'hona disaster was the largest expulsion of energy the game world has ever seen.
So lets put all the pieces together duct taped with the magical material known as "what if".
Lets say there were large enough releases in the past to let the primal's partly manifest them self's in the past. Beast tribes witness these individual manifestations, Religions are formed.
The disaster of mor dhona happens primals of all shapes and sizes use the energy to take stroll around the world reinforcing said religions.
The knowledge of how to summon the primals is brought to the beast tribes. And in a omg what have we done moment the summoned primal's brain wash and enslave them turning them into pawns of the primal war.
Its here that I want to point out something that I find very interesting. The two tribes that are for the most part are just chilled out, are the two that have no known link to a primal.
Where as the kobalts, ixal, amool, and sahagans (proxied by there reavers) will eat your face off rather then look at you.
