This is your answer, even if it is to your dismay. It makes healing in general much more bearable in dungeons if you DPS as much as you comfortably can, not only because it's more exciting and stimulating but because you get EXP/cleared much faster.

The boring, slower alternative is standing around waiting for ... nothing to happen, while mindlessly pressing one button and overhealing your tank when you do heal. Basic healing is super OP in low level dungeons, your Cure 1 will be 30%+ while tanks don't take 30% for 5-10s depending on CDs.

Yup. Not gonna lie, if you're actually trying to optimize both healing and DPS, it is easily the most involved and interesting role to play in low-level dungeons, considering all other classes are basically going "1 2 1 2 1 2 1 2 1 2" until things are dead. By the time other classes have more interesting tools, you'll actually be healing.

You're ignoring half your class (DPS abilities) and complaining that your toolkit is too shallow. It's like saying bard adds nothing new to the class because you don't believe in playing songs.

Much as you don't seem to like DPS, doing DPS is your answer. Developing proper play of your job means taking all of your abilities into consideration and learning how to use them. Practice stance dancing, when to heal, and when to chip in some damage.

    I agree with this.

Ignore titles. Ignore "roles." Focus on tools and what's needed for the job. If it turned out BLM tanking something is the ideal strategy, I would do it. If it turned out having 8 WHMs was somehow the most DPS party, I would form this party. Ignore the notion that healers heal, tanks tank, DPS DPS; whatever kills the enemies quicker while still consistent and safe, I'll take that route, and unless you have some role playing agenda, I recommend you play to your tools rather than your role.

Exactly. It's about playing your job (WHM) to its full extent, using all of the abilities available to you, instead of settling to fill a role (healer).

In the current situation where almost everyone is ridiculously overgeared for most of the content (4 person dungeons particularly), a healer doing nothing else but healing is taking the lazy route. They are literally standing still and doing nothing. For most dungeon bosses and even speedrun pulls the tank will survive with a single regen (or fairy heals) and maybe a couple of heals at most. There is no excuse to stand there bored while the rest of the group is doing their best to be useful.

    It's low level dungeons.

These are the same dungeons where I spent my time doing nothing but Impulse Drive when I was trying to get blood for blood and outdamaging everyone else using just that one move.

Just suck it up and get through it, it gets better. All you can do to spice it up is stance dance and throw stones.
