Oh, yes, of course it was used. It simply would not have been cleared in the first week without crafted gear. In my opinion, crafted gear is too powerful to the point of literally breaking game balance... especially those accessories.Except in First coil we had no accuracy gear, cept crafted (ACC at that really). (and could miss)
They added it to gear in coil 2, but still needed food or novus to cap. (minor buff)
In coil 3 they made it crazy crazy easy with equivalent 110 crafted gear. (huge buff)
If you don't think full crafted left / right side (and accuracy on the SCHs) was used in worlds first, you might not understand this game.
You're ignoring half your class (DPS abilities) and complaining that your toolkit is too shallow. It's like saying bard adds nothing new to the class because you don't believe in playing songs.
Much as you don't seem to like DPS, doing DPS is your answer. Developing proper play of your job means taking all of your abilities into consideration and learning how to use them. Practice stance dancing, when to heal, and when to chip in some damage.

I agree with this. You're ignoring half your class (DPS abilities) and complaining that your toolkit is too shallow. It's like saying bard adds nothing new to the class because you don't believe in playing songs.

Ignore titles. Ignore "roles." Focus on tools and what's needed for the job. If it turned out BLM tanking something is the ideal strategy, I would do it. If it turned out having 8 WHMs was somehow the most DPS party, I would form this party. Ignore the notion that healers heal, tanks tank, DPS DPS; whatever kills the enemies quicker while still consistent and safe, I'll take that route, and unless you have some role playing agenda, I recommend you play to your tools rather than your role.
Exactly. It's about playing your job (WHM) to its full extent, using all of the abilities available to you, instead of settling to fill a role (healer). You're ignoring half your class (DPS abilities) and complaining that your toolkit is too shallow. It's like saying bard adds nothing new to the class because you don't believe in playing songs.

In the current situation where almost everyone is ridiculously overgeared for most of the content (4 person dungeons particularly), a healer doing nothing else but healing is taking the lazy route. They are literally standing still and doing nothing. For most dungeon bosses and even speedrun pulls the tank will survive with a single regen (or fairy heals) and maybe a couple of heals at most. There is no excuse to stand there bored while the rest of the group is doing their best to be useful.

If you are struggling to heal the content don't dps. If you are complaining healing low level dungeons is boring please dps. It is really frustrating to me (main healer) to run this on my tank and see healers standing idle or even Mandevilling while trying to clear a dungeon. It speeds the dungeon up so much if they would help just to kill trash. If you think SE intended it one way or the other you never faced demon wall as a fresh 50 pre nerfs. The dps check was very harsh and I saved pom for it back when that spell had a 6 minute CD just to pump out stone 2.

This! This drives me insane in ST as a WHM main. I hate it when people stand around, doing nothing but sending out an occasional heal while they could be helping us kill the damn things faster. @_@

It's low level dungeons.
These are the same dungeons where I spent my time doing nothing but Impulse Drive when I was trying to get blood for blood and outdamaging everyone else using just that one move.
Just suck it up and get through it, it gets better. All you can do to spice it up is stance dance and throw stones.
