IMO price dropping is good as it prevents GIL deflation.
BTW, I think the auction idea will kill many players on really hot item like DET/CRI materia4,
many players need to camp the MB and test the price for whole day...
I have played other MMORPGS (I'm not sure if I'm allowed to name them, so I won't) with an exchange system similar to Market Boards - but the prices are calculated by supply and demand. Say there are 10 buckets, and 1 milion people want a bucket - the price shoots up. Undercutting will still occur, but prices remain steady.
You are right it does prevent gill deflation to a extent but there needs to be a balance with inflation and deflation,in this game there is one its just massive deflation.
You think it's good design to require people to market board camp all day?
Nevermind I didn't understand what your post was saying originally. Yes, I agree that would be stupid.
In FFXIV sellers decrease their item in 1 gil increments.
In FFXI buyers increased their offer by 1 gil increments.
A better solution to 1 gil undercutting would be to make crafted items be desirable for more than just glamours. Very few people go for crafted gear on my server.
