Extrem undercutting?

Hello,
On my server, Zodiark, there seems to be someone who likes to ruin the auctionhouse market by undercutting on prisms extremely hard (e.g. from 13k to 9k) without a reason. What can i do to stop him? Doing what he does counts - in my point of view - as a form of harrassement - desturbing the playing experience of other players.

Undercut him back.

Look at it this way. The average Glamour prism costs about 1k to make. Anything above that is pure overpricing. if he wants to cut his profits, and attempt to get more buyers by doing so, that is his right.

Undercutting, no matter by how much, is a normal part of the market economy. Its all a matter of who has the lowest cost to make it, and competition is normal.

Most of what you said made sense, but not this part. If you sell above cost at all, it's overpricing? I'm not sure overpricing means what you think it means, and I'm pretty sure you don't think people should be selling things at cost or at a loss. Obviously 14k for this thing is way overpriced, but somewhere in the 2k to 4k range isn't crazy. Certainly, I wish prisms sold for this much on my server. 6k+ is the best most of them get up to, and that isn't a regular thing.

If you truly feel you're being harassed, check the name of the person who made the prism, then report him.
That'll teach him to undercut ya!

9k for a prism is insane, let alone 13k. Perhaps he knows this, and doesn't feel bad shaving the profits a bit.

Err, Bombast doesn't think the OP is joking. That was a reaction to both values listed by the OP..

Anyway, undercutting has existed since the dawn of time, all you can do is undercut back. You only wanna go low enough to break even. If they go lower than this, do not continue counter-undercutting.

Its much easier to make gil on low population servers, the high prices of items due to low competition is one of the reasons. Even on low pop servers, there are still lots of people with lots gils and there is still a ton of gil in those server so the high prices don't really bother them much (as long as its still affordable). What does bother them is the price relative to other sellers or the "price history" but I won't get too deep in that.

This is why housing "cost a lot" since it represents the gil that the server and the players have. In fact, its actually underrepresenting since SE lowered the prices due to the bitching and whining of players. This is also why there are quite a lot of people who make tons and tons of gils on low pop servers and then transfer to high pop servers, which would had ruined those high pop servers had gil mean anything in this game. Gil is worth very little in this game though.
