If you're playing on a PS4. Then you either need to play in "Standard Mode" or Hard Lock On to each monster you fight, to ensure you don't miss an auto attack.tried few times with and without moving (and using gcds) and the auto-attack is 141.85 (oddly for few tries got the exactly the same number). While the number is better then on previous attempts (due to me mostly hugging my wife/dummy now)
but still far from the numbers i should get, and like 5-10% away (my guess is with my gear i should be pulling around 550 and without food/pots/pt buff am stuck at 500).
if you play with game pad standard motion mode is the hell because to control movemnt you must use the 2 anagol sticki and its not simple in coil..............
and here the question of the question: Why give us 2 different movement type if with one of them we lose DPS ???? i don't understand this thing because i use legacy and i stay all the time on faca to face with ass of the mob and all the time ppl say to me i lose DPS is stupid the movement type shouldn't interfere with my DPS.................
Hi ^^. I'm playing using a PS4 and main MNK ilv 118, i can tell u for sure that u need to lock target all mobs and bosses, even Titan ex, Nael, etc to not lose any auto attack. I had the same problem a few months ago in T8 (before echo and nerfing), so i trained with lock target (even made a shortcut to activate and deactivated every time i need to dodge or to see all arena) against ex primmals. Now lock target is innerent to me, a part of me, i use it all the time and still dodge when needed perfectly.
My dps increased a lot, i even steal ice golens (Shiva ex) agroo from Tanks while i'm using all my powers to kill them. U'll lose auto attacks every time you aren't facing enemy and that happens when u move from rear to flank and flank to rear whitouth Lock target, it is a lot dps in a long fight (bosses, primmals, raids).
I even made a MNK's guide for my FC fellows at FC's website.

I hope i was of any help. See u.
Can you explain more about this shortcut on ps4 with controller? The standard location is L3 and it is at times very cumbersome. The main drawback to hard lock targeting is the backpeddling is a slow crawl at best. If there was a way to increase this back step speed I would almost always played locked on as it would make dodging easier.
hello fellow monk~
any specific tips for t13? i'm learning P3 now, need lot of advice to maximize my dps![]()
so whats this deal about losing auto attack damage when your not locked on? strafe running doesnt help?
If you face more than 45 degrees relative to your target, your character stops autoattacking. You can tell this easily if you hit a dummy, then slowly turn away until you stop autoattacking. It just so happens moving to side/back can make you look too hard away, and lock on prevents that.
I hold right click and strafe in a manner similar to lockon, albeit with a bit more accuracy on where I want to go, I thin Im doing fine then but I'll make sure not to turn enough to lose AA's, thos ehit hard!
