    That is a possibility. The desynth thing certainly forces specialization. They could do a set per class. That would suck, but it wouldn't be surprising. Because of how sensitive Yoshi is toward high end crafters right now, I'm still on the side that the best gear won't be tomestone based, but it may end up being a tomestone set per class

    I'm excited to play a real black mage, auto-attacking for the majority of encounters because I need to rest at an inn to refresh my spell slots and I want to make sure I still have Haste and Saber ready for the endboss of the dungeon.

    You mean "spam thunder because that's the strongest nuke in the game on everything but token mobs that absorb thunder"? Or the FFXI "real" BLMs that were basically 5/5 Thunder or Ice potency and gave the middle finger to every other element?
    That's how they designed the game, it wasn't our fault that they made thunder and ice the strongest lol. Who remembers BLM weekend?

    Which thus makes this call for "real" black mages pointless and idiotic. The job as it stands is actually one of the best-designed casters I've ever seen and managed to implement spells BLM is known for while maintaining a very fluid combat model. At least in my case it surpassed all expectations I had for the job. It's just annoying to see people think that it's not a "real" BLM or an appropriate representation of the job simply because it doesn't have a bloated spellbook or some other nonsense.

    * The sad thing is that FFXIV turned RDM into a turret, and people think that's what it's supposed to be. It's supposed to combine sword and magic into something more, not spend the bulk of gameplay spamming spells and jump into melee for only 3 GCDs before scurrying back to the back line like good little casters.

    Matsuno is/was the leader designer or director of FF Tactics and Ogre something, and is also the mentor of the current team's lead scenario writer (which means he already has indirect influence on the game). He is among one of Japan's most respected and heavily sought after game designers.
    Yoshida wasn't receptive to the idea because requiring the black mage to keep a stock of multi types of weapons goes against their very philosophy of accessibility (ie, XI's infamous GTFO if you don't have X weapon scenarios).
    Not a revamp, it seems. Just a suggestion.

    Simple enough fix, then. Don't make it connected to weapons. Personally, I think it'd actually make me want to play BLM again if the class was more than just "spam Fire until you're out of MP, transpose, transpose again when at full MP, go back to spamming Fire". I might be oversimplifying things, but that was my impression of the class trying to level it, and I eventually just gave up on it when I finally got Swiftcast for SCH.

    Its not like that at the end.
    Blm is the worst job to level in this game. It gets fun after lv40 though.

    It's not tho, that would be more limiting. Spam fire on packs of mobs, spam thunder on single target fights, Reducing the number of abilities that are useful on fights makes the job more brain dead than having access and use of ALL abilities in fights,

    the elemental weakness system got removed because of BLM. I hope they'll bring it back.

    It's even more simple in end game. You replace transpose with the tier 3 fire/ice. The concept of BLM is nice. A self sustainable caster. The rotation could use a few intricacies, though.
