He was stating I couldn't have friends that have logged on regularly for years because this game hasn't been out for years. I was just pointing out I have been playing this game for 4 years now.

The situation still could have been treated differently. The game hasn't been ongoing for four years. It had a period of time where there was no service at all. To some 1.0 players the game is entirely new from what it was back then; things have changed drastically. You could have better explained to the person in question this instead of flinging around your veteran status like it makes you better than them. :\

Perhaps I phrased it badly, but that poster said my friends can't have logged into FFXIV for years because it's a year old (they've been on my friend list for over 4 years now). He also said this isn't the first time I've unsubbed (it is. This is the first time I've stopped paying SE monthly in 8 years).

He isn't debating the nature of the two versions of the game or anything like that; he's outright calling me a liar. And lying himself while doing so. I have no patience for that.
