They took into account how terrible most dragoon players are so it balances out.

That 8552 takes into account the 10% piercing buff and Crit. I should've made that clearer.I should have shown my work earlier and I apologize. Phone posting sucks for that. But I'm trying to follow your #s and a little confused.
Where is the 8552 pot coming from for your 60 sec rotation? Is that including AA and instants because it seems high. 60 sec rotation should be 4 ht, 2 ct combo, 4 phleb, and 3 thrust combos.
Woah GJ you catched a typo ! Good for you !
Izsha made the same points that i did, exactly the same (i am glad for the drg buff, sad that they stripped it of its complexity), provide the same math i did, conclude the same way. But because my lodestone profile doesn't show DRG50, 90% of the DRG attempt to ridicule me and say that what i say is nonsense. Then The same people praise Izcha for being so smart.
Don't get me wrong; i am glad to see the point being finally understood. But i start to see where the "loldrg" reputation is coming from. The knee-jerk reaction, gut feeling reasonning and total absence of objectivity most dragoons have shown in this thread are just a shame, and given the lack of understanding of basic math they demonstrated, i fail to see how they could even optimize their gameplay -- all they do is follow the herd.
Anyway, glad to see a couple of reasonnable dragoons main to save your reputation. Keep up the good work guys.
Probably because every time you respond you do so in the most pathetic and belittling way possible. When trying to make a point you don't pull off a strong argument with name calling.
From what i read in your post, OP doesn't seem the be glad for drg buff at all. You are poking on the prides of the DRG players of course they won't back down. Math are numbers for the perfect world, dummy stand still fight. With mechanics added the world ain't perfect anymore
I actually dint get the 25% from monk positionals. Do you have the numbers?Don't get me wrong dps is dps, but to claim that this tiny, tiny amount of dps is in any way comparable to the 25ish% that come from mnks positionals is just laughable. 25% compared to 2.97%? Mnk has nearly 10x the positional damage to maintain so no, I don't see drg as punishing by any st etch of the imagination. I'm not even talking about gl. Just wrote comparison of positional impact on gameplay. Drgs is inconsequential. To believe otherwise is to fail to believe in rudimentary math.
I'm personally glad for the HT change. If anything I'd like it to be more forgiving (130 potency not from flank, etc.) just because it is consistently our entry move. Impulse Drive, on the other hand, could have stayed as it was minus the positional combo requirement. The increase to FT (330->360) and CT dmg (both the improved DoT and the new 250 direct potency components - for a total of 600 potency in one attack) seem a bit over the top, even if they do help to level DRG out with Nin DoT numbers. The CT change 'feels' nice, but on the other hand, I do feel like I'd rather have had those changes in the form of increased Jump/Dive damage, something to make us feel not just like 'nukers' (which an improved 30s DoT does not aid) but traditionally jump-obsessed. (DFD target damage at 300, Jump at 2/3s of FT damage, Dive at Jump - 20, EJ at 1 minute CD.)
But, for the time being I do like that my previously crappy alt class can break 500 dps easily now...
It actually gives me a bit of an ego boost.
