Even if they just added NMs that dropped items that would be useful for leveling to 50 (and soon enough, 60), it'd still be nice. Probably wouldn't be a good idea to add NMs that drop actually useful level 50 gear, then everyone would be camping it, but better gear isn't really necessary when leveling so it'd just be a bonus, more or less.

It's ok to have Lv50 gear, it just needs to be slightly worse than raid gear, or be something as good as last patch gear to help gear people up for new content. What I'm mostly interested in, is having fun fights, that drop unique looking gear, so we can do things other than dungeons.

Also, Guildleves sometimes have "Wanted Targets" that spawn, those could also be improved to drop Pink level appropriate gear too, they were a fun concept if it wasn't just +3% more gil. (Iknowitsnotreally3%)

*sigh* another "1.0 was better because of x" Thread.

What you just described in your first post is basically what Hunts are:

You're bound to hate them when you grind them for levelling and Relics.

I'm not claiming 1.0 was better... Don't truly believe this guy was either, however... 1.0 did do some things better. To say it did everything worse? Well, I have to disagree.

You cherry pick well. Forgive me please If I don't feel like repeating the same argument, but perhaps you should take the time to read and understand a post, not just scout it out for things to feel outraged at or cherry pick to respond too. However in this case, I would recommend my post responding to the gentlemen who asked how are NMs different. I explained more in depth the difference between a Hunt and a NM. If you read it maybe you'll find you agree on some points.

Anyway, I'm not going to respond to the rest of the post since I feel I would be talking it circles if I did, and to a person whos made up their mind about the subject already... Its clear you feel different in the matter and you know whats? Thats cool with me. I'd like if you would approach the subject with more of an open mind, but judging by your first sentence, you don't even kinda care about what we're asking for, you've made up your mind on the subject and are just popping in to shit on it. Which again... You're free to do, thats what a forum is for.

Only in Shposhae you had to kill specific mobs for NM pop

For every other NM it was a fixed spawn time (around 10 minutes after last kill), daytime specific (Uraeus only during night) or weather specific (Dodore only during Gloom weather).

And this was only with Mooshorn (in a group of Billy Goats and Nany Goats like in his FATE now) and the Goblin NM.
Every other NM standed alone around. And there was no Bat NM

If it have to be like in 1.0, the NM should drop mats that you can use to craft NM gear ^^

Free NM would be the same. Only way to make them not like FATE or Hunt is to do them within the treasure chest system or the leve system, where the party get their private NM outside of the normal claim system.

I like the idea of NM (so long as the balance leans a little more casual than FFXI's offerings), but it is hard to justify them when The Hunt is already a very similar mechanic.

I would argue that the reason NM resonate with us so strongly is the idea of unique looking, rare gear. FFXIV has very few pieces of gear that aren't instantly recognizable (when was the last time someone asked you "woah, where did you get that?!") where as FFXI had them in abundance because every zone had multiple NM and almost every one dropped something cool.

But I don't think it's practical to have both the hunts and NM in the game, I would say that instead The Hunts should be expanded to include unique gear drops as well as their standard rewards.

Back on the OP thread, yeah seeing the return of 1.0 NMs would be really fun.

And what will be the difference between Hunt and NM?
The claim system don't get changed, so the only thing that would bring a difference are private NMs (from a leve or a treasue map) instead of free running NMs.

Maybe something less relevant to huge keyboard-faceroll that hunt is?
The claim system should be obviously changed for those said NMs to become private, it would be a necessity mechanic wise.
