    Leveling NIN in my spare time, noticed this too.

    The amount of time it takes for the mudras to register varies a bit.

    Maybe they should do it client side, i.e. only send the mudras after Ninjitsu is hit, then send them all at once.

    PS: They should do this for Swiftcast too - another ability that doesn't do anything by itself but modify the ability following it.

    I'm having huge lag spikes and disconnections left and right tonight, which enabled me to experiment with Mudras in a way I've never been able to before, as when you're disconnecting from the server there is no server check and your skills fire off immediately.
    Holy crap, what a night and day difference this makes. My mudras seem to come off at twice the usual speed and it's silky smooth instead of being really inconsistent.

    This is with a moderate ping (<80ms) and Battleping, from Europe (yeah I know, we're getting a dedicated data center, but you have people leaving near Montreal complaining in this very thread).

    The "Mudra lag issue" isn't a specific one, I'm pretty sure it's just a very noticeable instance of bad netcode. There's no doubt this game is a success and we're paying a monthly fee for it (on top of microtransactions and a paid expansion to be), it's a bit of a shame we still have so many netcode/server issues almost one year and a half after launch.

    Y: It depends on your operating system, on packet loss from your ISP… Since these are not always problems on our end it is difficult for us to address them. These are things that affect all online games.

    Seriously what if it's really something that they can't fix from their end? You expect SE to be gods and magically fixes ISP delays and all of those latency bs?

    There is literally no way that they could not fix it on their end. If the design you implement for skills doesn't work for a very large portion of your player base, and there's no way around it, then you change the design.

    Get rid of or modify the gcd, whatever, it's something they can fix. If it requires rebalancing, then so be it.

    There's a lot of things they could change on the design of it that would help people with packet loss/latency. Just off the top of my head, they could make it so you can tell at a glance what mudra you activated, and/or make it so that not using the actual ninjutsu action doesn't incur the 20 second CD.

    There are some things that cannot be jumped over yes, but people are asking more for diffirent design of mudra system alone i think becouse stuff like ping will always take a factor and 0.5 cooldown is not really created well for this.

    On a side note, someone told me interesting info yesterday:

    Apparently you can check how good is your mudra god today if you spam 1 mudra untill you cant do it anymore
    if you manage to press it 12 times its good
    I did few tries yesterday and im getting 8 times sometimes 9
