Relics coming to an end?

I never would have started the questline in the first place if I had even thought that this would be the outcome, and I'll never start on another one, if all I'm going to be doing is just wasting time and gil.

This is why I didn't rush relic. I waited for the ATMA drop nerf because I knew it was coming months ago, now I have ATMA weapon but I'll just wait for the next nerf. I'm in no hurry to get a weapon that will be outdated by xpansion, specially when there is comparable ones out there that are 100x easier to get.

All I'm going to say it this: If they wind up just throwing away the weapon I worked so hard to get to its peak optimization, I want my ~10 million gil back, dammit.

I sympathize. I more or less stopped crafting/gathering when they immediately in ARR made my luminary tools irrelevant and didn't introduce an upgrade path for them. I fear the same will happen with relics and then what am I left with doing if I have to boycott battles too

MMO Expansions typically come with gear resets, Relics should really be no exception. BiS will typically get you to the new lvl cap quite easily and then get replaced as soon as you start doing dungeons etc.

Nobody know if the relic quest line will continue in the expansion or not only the devs. Pretty much just speculation at this point nobody has a real answer.

For those who are in favor of a reset. I have to wonder, if they hold relics. I have my doubts. Which is why there is no significant loss from their perspective.

Relics from 2.0 → 3.0 will probably take the same path as relics from 1.0 → 2.0.

Those who got their relics earlier will continue to be able to use theirs and can begin on the new upgrade quest immediately. Those just starting then, will get a condensed , expedited version up til around nexus or excaliber just like we got a condensed version for the relic.

Hopefully they don't disregard the current relic system and actually continue to upgrade them, while possibly making the Zodiac quests easier. Would be nice to introduce a different type of relics too, such as FFXI had Empyrean.

Imagine if they gated it behind the current relic? If they don't nerf it hardcore or completely just take it out/ make it not required, imagine how ppl will be like when they think oh... I have 7 more steps to do before i can start on the 3.0 relic chain.

An MMO should have content to last a while. What better than a lengthy grind that is the relic quest?
