    3AM - 6AM PST = China prime time.

Maybe if SE killed off RMTs and Gilbuyers on a consistent basis. Character Creation wouldn't be an issue at all.

Seriously, the # of characters on each server with 50 THM or BLM and nothing else unlocked /w zero mounts and minions makes me wanna vomit.

I'd rather have SE kill off all the active RMTs that are logged in 24/7, than impose auto-logoff due to max concurrent connections on a given server.

On Excalibur after the first 3 days of Patch 2.4 I have never hit a queue or server full during prime time. This tells me the Max Concurrent connections to Excalibur has not been reached.

Sounds like their calculation is more than just Max Concurrent Connections.

being a father of 4 kids it is VERY hard to maintain any sorta play schedule. The solution to this is almost always having my character logged in so that at the drop of a dime i can jump on a hit up a DF, craft some stuff or just play with mai furniture... this wonderful feature shouldn't be wiped out just because, and seriously... imagine all the RMTs who can't create new characters as well???

Couldn't SE just give us a warning box when we are getting close to auto-logout, with a sound effect? Heck, give it a steady "ticking-clock" sound like when a DF queue window is counting down. If you can't respond to this, you can't respond to a FATE. And even if you do get logged out, if you can't get back to your computer in time to log back in before the FATE is over, then you were never going to get do the FATE anyhow.

Also there is the ff14 alarm clock website for nodes. You can also simply come back every hour to take care of your plants.
Do those plants/gethering nodes disappear if you get logged out? It sounds like your website will tell you when the nodes are up, whether you're logged into the game or not. When you hear the tone, go log back in and get them.

I don't remember the exact amount of time you were giving before being auto kicked out. I think it was pretty short though.
I don't make up the amount of time for an AFK auto-logout. SE makes up the timer, and they can set it at whatever they want. I think the lowest they would actually set it would probably be an hour, but it could just as easily be 1.5 hours, 2 hours, etc. Heck, even if they made it 2.5 or 3 hours, it would still have a positive effect on the servers. There are people who stay logged-in 24/7 -- or log in the mornings, go to work/school, and don't come back til evening. That is ridiculous, and the game does not need to cater to that sort of habit simply because they find it "inconvenient" to have to log back in.

But for my examples, I was assuming a low estimate of 1 hour. If you're too preoccupied to simply tab into the game and tap a key at least once per hour, then you're not going to be able to gather a node or complete a FATE when it happens, either. With the long list of activities you say you're taking care of all day, I doubt there's even that many instances where you'd even get logged off at all. Heck, your last few posts in this thread don't even have an hour's space between them.

    .
If you get kicked out there's no guarantee you'll be able to log back in time due to a wait. Like I said I'm not exactly sure what the boot time was, but it was short. Something like 30 minutes. Knowing SE's tendency to put their foot down hard on things it'll be about that amount of time again.

I don't see whats so terrible about having a tad bit of patience to wait for a server to open up, rather than demand people to change their play styles completely. I waited three days to make my character when ARR came out. As for staying logged in 24/7, I doubt the majority of the player base does that. Some legit people do, then it's probably mostly RMTs. I'm sure RMTs would support making character creation even easier. They'll probably be your biggest supporter.

How is not playing the game a playstyle?

If you're not actively playing SE's game, what reason does SE have to let you keep hogging their server space?

As I explained in my other posts(and other people have said) they liked to stay logged in for various reasons.

That doesn't make it a playstyle, that just means those people are impatient and self-centered.

In your opinion. In my opinion it's the other way around.

Your opinion is wrong. You're trying to create an equivalency that doesn't exist; logging in is almost instant, save for a few occasional instances where it may take a few minutes longer. Creating a character, even on a server where you already have one, can take days.

And that's completely ignoring the fact that people who stay logged in 24/7 are doing their hardware a terrible disservice.

So it takes a few days to get on the heavily populated servers. Once again I don't see that as a big deal. It's the players choice to wait and not play on a low pop. *shrug* No whining or attempted guilt-trips will change my mind on the subject tbh.
