Please bring back auto afk log outs!

Hello! I just wanted to bring to everyone's attention that Excalibur is probably to date, the most populated server. Mostly because every time I step foot into Mor Dhona at 3:00am, there are dozens of chair icons meaning dozens of people are afk. I've been having a friend wanting to create a character on my server to play with me for several days now and it seems no matter what time it is, it is always "crowded" with afk people. This is severely bothering me now and I really think high populated servers need auto afk logout, at least during highly congested times. Please listen to this, this has become really annoying as of late. I hope that this issue is fixed soon. I'm not excited for free login weekend... nobody will be able to get into excalibur at that rate... so sorry for venting. Thank you for reading.

    Also:

Funny how the only server locked is Excalibur huh? I checked at around 3:20 am

Anyways, I dislike any form or shape of auto logout so I disagree.

Nah, I enjoy Balmung being locked most of the time also so RMT cant make hundreds of characters per day. Haven't recieved RMT tell/friend invite for a good month or so.

And logging back in on Balmung you have to wait in queue from like 3pm to 11pm pst, I'd rather not having to wait in queue when I go for dinner or a long toliet break >.o

The amount of people online at any given time does not affect the server lock out whatsoever. It's SE that shuts down the character creator server access during certain time windows, when the highest amount of log ins is registered. Even if afk people logged off, the server would stay locked for people making new characters until SE noticed a stable change in the log in activity and decided to change the server lock out settings.

    This^

And if you go to the lodestone they post the lockout and open times for the different worlds, you just have to wait until they unlock the server you want.

That is incorrect. SE posts updates periodically, but the servers open and close independent of those updates.

^This. Whether or not you're able to create a new character on a given server is not determined by how many players are currently logged-in.

Why? What on earth have you got to dislike about it? If someone has been AFK for like an hour or two, they obviously are not playing the game, and possibly aren't even at their computer. Anyone it would actually impact is literally not there. Those of us who are actually playing the game don't exactly appreciate our frame rates diving into the gutter any time we enter a city with crowds of "people" just standing there motionless for hours. Logging off people who aren't playing will provide a better experience for those who are, and it will put less strain on the servers.

they could program it to read if they are Qued or Autosynth/Desynth, if not just log em out after a set amount of time. Like say someone ques for a Primal and leaves the keyboard cause Ques are ridiculous imo...but wont be logged till the Que pops and they miss it...kinda a consequence for not paying attention ya know?
Yeah, they could certainly implement a measure to prolong the auto-logout if you're in a DF queue, but I don't see that as being necessary. For one thing, they could set the timer at 2 or 3 hours. For another, anyone who is unable/unwilling to even hit a key or click their mouse at least once per hour or two is obviously not paying attention to their computer and will probably miss the DF pop anyhow. Who is honestly in a position of "I am way too busy to nudge my character forward one step every couple of hours, but if my DF queue comes up I can totally play a whole dungeon!"

As other have said, the current amount of people logged in doesn't affect ones ability to create a new character. It simply prevents more then the server can hold from logging into the game.

What? Where is this info coming from? You guys don't seem to understand how it works.

From the "Regarding character creation" page found HERE they specifically state..

During periods of high congestion, we may institute a temporary restriction on the creation of new characters. This information will be updated at the following intervals:
    3:00 a.m./ 7:00 a.m./ 0:00 p.m./ 5:00 p.m./ 10:00 p.m. (PST)
Meaning very specifically that yes the current population (the direct cause of high congestion) is taken into account at certain predefined times and the servers are automatically closed or opened. So yes people idling on the server are indeed preventing new players from creating characters. This is the reason why it's easier to make characters at 6am EST. Fewer people are logged in so early and the server opens up.

So many people completely misinformed about how it works yet acting like they know whats up.
