So with a cash shop we can look forward to no real content updates for an entire year? Just more cash shop stuff. To be honest, this game would lose a relative amount of subscribers if they didn't have a real content update for almost an entire year. Let that sink in for a bit. People stop playing this game after a month or two of the latest patch. Now imagine if this game didn't have a patch for an entire year. It's actually fairly impressive that they didn't lose more IMO.
Pretty much all they're doing while ignoring that most of the "doom and gloom" are people comparing F2P and P2W MMOs. I guess they're basically saying ARR is going F2P? Since you know, they're "taking content out of the game oh noes!" Maybe we should protest the sale of the Expansion next year, that way they don't take content out of the game that they should just patch in you know? Why should I pay for an expansion pack? I pay my sub, I'm entitled to every expansion for free.

But you could buy the expansion from the cash shop! ... you know it's a good idea... don't pretend it's not.Pretty much all they're doing while ignoring that most of the "doom and gloom" are people comparing F2P and P2W MMOs. ..and why not purchasable content? It's no different from buying an expansion or whatever... but you get to choose what content you want.
You can also buy sound logic from there too.
While we're at it, meteors are coming and we're all doomed. But we could be saved by the sky wizard who will bless us with wings right? It's my opinion, I believe it to be true.

I'm sorry, but the wings will cost $5 per pair at the shop.
Jokes aside, I'm fine with the shop. I'm not going to bash it before we've had some time to see how they plan to use it and what kind of stuff they want to put in it. If after a couple of months it's looking grim then I'll voice my concerns, but until we've actually seen it everything is just assumption.
1/10
Yeah, no. The reason that game had no content update for an entire year was because they screwed up the planning while they were preparing the expac.
Now let's say SE really wanted to push this cash shop. Guess what, the new halloween outfit, barding, earring could have been in the cash shop. But it isn't.

I'm really conflicted about it. I mean, on the one hand, it'll be nice for players to be able to get hold of items they'd missed in the past, but these could just as easily be offered in-game. And I fully understand that those who don't want to buy things don't have to, but then again, they'll be offering cash shop exclusives, so it'll be a case of pay up or miss out.
And, personally, I don't think a cash shop has any place in a game where we're already paying monthly for the content anyway.
