That looks strange, it seems I'm still doing old content. The top tier raiders are bored to tears. My friends and I have been having fun doing what we've dubbed 'Terror Queue', where we go in with a partial party to old content (TitanX, T5, etc.) and see if we're able to carry and get people their first clears.
Spoilers: GarudaX is harder than TitanX or T5 to do in DF. Imagine that!
My argument in it's simplest form is that casuals do not need echo with introduction of new tome gear and ilvl. Your argument is stating that obtaining gear from 2nd coil will give the casual an incentive to play the game assuming that they can even clear the content with the echo. But you are also forgetting the fact that the casual have already been receiving i110 for the past 3 months with the introduction of hunts. How exactly in a casual's mind with no sense of min/maxing is i110 -> i110 an upgrade? This might be useful for the new players starting the game fresh, but they could probably use hunts to get to i110 quicker than hoping on RNG for drops.
What about player that joined on 2.4? What about player that resub with i90 gear? Have you thou about that?My argument in it's simplest form is that casuals do not need echo with introduction of new tome gear and ilvl. Soldiery will have weekly cap removed, so attaining i110 will be simple.
PS: New players, don't buy a DEX ring for your DRG because you could only buy one STR ring, get a second STR ring even though it's lower ilvl! Yes, this is a problem.
Jerks can be right too.
Having a fight diluted is a shame for players who get into the game later, as they aren't able to experience the fight as it was in its heyday. It's not fun to beat a watered-down fight.
Coil is not a part of the main scenario. A player can do everything else without doing coil because it's technically a side story.
For players who can't beat coil but want to experience the side story, the devs have mentioned that they are working on a "story coil".
If a nerf is so players can get to the newest coil, well, what business do they have there? They won't be able to handle the newest coil if they can't handle the old ones.
Don't know if this was mentioned at all but Turn 7 with echo sounds like a nightmare. My static has had it on farm for probably around 5-6 months now and it's at the point where we all have to stop doing pretty much anything and just stand there for a good 5-10 seconds several times throughout the fight.
Don't even want to know how bad it is with Echo. Made sure to get all the pieces I wanted from it because after they open it up I'm never doing that with randoms. Even if they nerf it into the ground the only way to avoid making people whine and complain about it is to make all the one shot mechanics not be one shot mechanics.
T6 and T9 are the only turns that seem to be unaffected by having a ton of DPS. Unless they change some things, even with echo and new gear people will still have trouble with 7 and 8.
It'd be interesting to see how many people complaining about Coil getting nerfed even intend to be doing it after the last coil is released.
Lol, yeah I'm sure you care about those new players a lot.

OBJECTION! My raid just stared and formed 2 months ago 6 of the player has no t7 to 9 experience and let alone my white Mage was been carried by us so she can go second coil as our static white Mage and her first time t5 was a success yes she got carried but you saying they can't handle new coil is false because my raid is doing fine they just need more time to learn but restricting new player from new coil is not user friendly so they don't have to go through all the trouble gearing to i110 just to clear old content
My group has solo healed T7 (meaning we brought along an extra DPS). While we did revert back to duo heal because the extra DPS changed the entire pace of the fight, it's very doable. We didn't have to hold DPS at all, it was just a matter of readjusting to all the voice/shriek/renaud timers (i.e. "relearn" the whole fight, but other than that there's no real downside).Don't know if this was mentioned at all but Turn 7 with echo sounds like a nightmare. How does having a lot of DPS on T8 break it, other than having a random ballistic missile thrown in towards the end? o.o
