The one that studied harder got an A and the other gets a D, but according to your philosophy they both deserve the same grade or reward even though one put in a minimal amount of effort? I personally have nothing left to learn for T5 but still can't find a static or players that will give me a chance. It takes a team to win not just 1 but it only take 1 to wipe a party.

I help noobs all the time with regular primals and new hard dungeons.
I blame Elites your not helping usher new players thru hard content. Yes I understand its more fun to run with players who know what to do however the Majority can't do it and need support.

I help people on their first clears. We can't help every person ever, but if you aren't making an attempt to get help or form a party you shouldn't be blaming others. I've had times where I joined some friends helping new people through coil 1 and we couldn't fill up the party so we tossed up PF and said it was to help first timer clears. The people that joined were just happy to help people get into scob. The people we helped had also studied the fight pretty well, or already tried pugging it. I think overall I've only seen a few people I was helping die to mechanics, and usually just divebombs or walking into the wall rather than messing up twister or something. Other times I've joined parties in PF to help people where the new person had not studied the fight at all and as a chain effect caused wipes so I left.

I'll use my time to help you if you've already used your time to help yourself. Just don't expect me and 6 others to waste an hour if you haven't even put in 10 minutes.

I think they need to add greater rewards for people that go into Coil with clears under their belt once it hits DF.
Once the good people and the people with a ton of time on their hands get through and get their stuff there's little incentive to get back in and help people out. I find my patience with Turn 5 and things gets pretty low, especially when half the group has prior clears...

Use the first-timer bonus to hand out the 2.4 equivalent to sands or something?

Actually; there are many modern theories that the self-esteem movement actually did the opposite of what you describe. Around their early to mid teens, the younger generation began to understand that the praise they were given was meaningless, and thus made them unable to distinguish what contributions they were making to their environment were meaningful or not.

This, coupled with being raised into a failing economy, destroyed their self-esteem and thus their motivation to do much, lacking both a sense of worth in their work both psychologically (through comprehensible esteem feedback,) and materially (through the majority of modern wage labor being literally incapable of meeting the US' own bare minimum fair rent requirements.)

Interesting post. I would agree that those things have also happened.
I would disagree, however, that what you and I claimed are mutually exclusive. That is, complacency and self-entitlement can go hand-in-hand with a lack of self-worth and motivation. It's the cognitive dissonance that arises once reality contradicts expectation. Some egos deflated, others inflated --some developed a deficit of self-worth, others a surplus.

Still, my point was more that the self-esteem movement was a failure, rather than that it only fostered those two personality traits that I presented. I will happily concede that its failures were manifold. I think the movement failed because it suggested that "everyone is great," rather than "everyone can be great." Rather than teaching children that they could win, it taught them that they couldn't lose.

In general, people won't have a problem with helping. But they have a problem wasting their time helping somebody who isn't putting even a slight effort or can't deal with simple requirements.
