Vanity really gave crafters a lot of stuff to make. Minions and mounts provided incentive to do certain content. Why sidestep that completely with a cash shop for those things? Rhetorical question, btw.

They say it's only vanity or fashion items but come on, vanity items are some of the most sought after items in the game.

At the same time, players on the forums are starting to complain that cash shop cosmetics should be currently obtainable in the game...and where do most of the desirable cosmetic items come from? Crafters. High-end raids. Some people are so alarmed at the slightest whiff of "cash shop" that they don't stop to think it through.

If it's 3pets and 1mount every 6month or something like that i mean ok i don't care, but if it's every month i will probably quit it, because i want to collect everything (one of my 3 fun parts in games) and so i spend a lot of money on those stores...

As for this reply, I say good on your for realizing that this could be a weakness for you and your fun. SE is a business but they do not control you. Anyone can walk away if this gets out of hand. I am going to err on the side that this wont get out of hand.

If you are deeply invested and passionate about the game (which is what im assuming you speak of) then why dont you want SE to be able to have a side income that isnt as consistent as the subs. I mean look at pokemon, its huge, but Gamefreak only gets money for initial sales. thats it. So they usually have to release a new version every year.

I like SE. I like a FF MMO. so I might buy a few things this year. Will it happen every month? Heck no as i also pay a sub. but every 10 months or every year on my birthday? yeah probably.

You have no way to prove that at all. I'm sure at least a portion of the revenue would go toward people's paychecks, so a lot of it would be pocketed if I had to guess.

And again, some people consider the vanity side of the game to be the real winning. Vanity in the cash shop is definitely pay-to-win, or at the very least, pay-to-have-fun.

You're wrong. That's exactly what a subscription fee does. With that fee, I now have access to all of this game's content, as does all of the players. Double-dipping is completely inexcusable so long as they are collecting a monthly subscription fee from all their players.

No because we're talking about the current phase of MMORPGs, where everyone wants to "be like WoW" and everyone has a cash shop of some kind. Why do you think F2P games make more money than P2P games? Cash Shops are attractive because they offer small items and sometimes larger ones that are attractive to people with money.

You don't like it? Don't use it, as simple as that. I hope to every higher deity you never once touched the fantasia purchase or extra retainers.

I'm very disappointed and not conflicted at all about this. I pay the sub so the devs can develop content I can play, and now they want me to pay before and after. It doesn't really matter that they're selling vanity, it's not as if it's less important than gear. Am I so mad that I'll cancel my sub? No, but this is the first strike. Won't allow a second.

Does that mean you are fine with buying CDs and toys for $50+ to collect all the minions but are not ok with paying 1/10th that for just the minion to collect it?

This vanity store doesn't effect anyone in a negative manner. If you are a die hard collector then you will happily sacrifice eating out for dinner 1 night or a cup of coffee for a single minion.

Personally I wont be buying any of these because they are not my taste. But If i could get the delivery moogle minion for $5 I would woop for joy.
