pay to win is solely you have to pay to win. not what you think.
until they sell the best crafter gear and best pve/pvp gear it won't be pay to win.
Here is the kicker, if i want to get back into the game after a break of my choice, my price is the flat sub fee. nothing more, nothing less. If i get some extra cash for a gift and want to spiff up my in game character, then its cool to have that option. You can't seriously be defending something like this. We already pay them to support the game. We buy the game. We pay for our subscriptions. We pay for character services. We pay for expansion. That should be more than enough. They do not need to exploit us by withholding items to sell in the cash shop. It seems so disrespectful to fans who have been supporting them for so long.
Also, as far as I'm concerned, the vanity aspect is the real "winning", not the numbers on an item or how fast I level. So yes, a cosmetic cash shop is still pay to win in my opinion, because having fun is how I win, and cosmetics are fun to play with.
Vanity really gave crafters a lot of stuff to make. Minions and mounts provided incentive to do certain content. Why sidestep that completely with a cash shop for those things? Rhetorical question, btw.
They say it's only vanity or fashion items but come on, vanity items are some of the most sought after items in the game.
WoW has been doing it for years, you could really tell how it hurt them. Right? And many of those items actually did have advantages, like the mounts with higher speed/etc.
People will get over it or leave, you can pretend to be entitled and butthurt all day long but at the end of the day they are a business with employees who have families with mouths to feed. If a sector of your business has a potential for profit that can help make up for other departments that are not doing as well at the moment you seize the opportunity. Business 101. For those of you that do "vote with your wallet" the amount of money lost by your leaving will be made up in spades by these transactions, they won't be crying a river over it I assure you.
If/when you eventually do get over it and come crawling back you'll be behind the curve on endgame because you were angry at a business behaving like a business. SquareEnix is not your friend/lover, they make games to make money (Just like you go to work every day to make money to obtain the things you like/need) and if you see this as some sort of betrayal you might be a bit naive.

The extra $$$ in SE's pocket will help further development.
A win in my book.
Let people have their cash-shop vanities.
I seriously don't get people who have an issue with this so long as it isn't P2W.
Actually, you're assuming I meant every bit of profit would be invested back into development.
Did I say "ALL the extra $$$..."? No.
Certainly some will assist development, I didn't express all would.
Way to assume a false-assumption.

Because that "gift" should be part of the game to begin with. That is what you're paying for.
Just because WoW is doing it doesn't mean that it's okay. Look how they said that they didn't have enough resources to do new mounts but apparently have enough resources to still throw new mounts in the cash shop.WoW has been doing it for years, you could really tell how it hurt them. Right? And many of those items actually did have advantages, like the mounts with higher speed/etc.

That sort of thing is just completely disrespectful to your fans. It's honestly sickening.
jeah i don't know how i should feel about it.
If it's 3pets and 1mount every 6month or something like that i mean ok i don't care, but if it's every month i will probably quit it, because i want to collect everything (one of my 3 fun parts in games) and so i spend a lot of money on those stores...
Well we'll see how this turns out....
You assume any amount of profit is invested back into development. You also assume any money outside of our subscription is required for continued development or would help it. Not every project benefits from having money thrown at it (if that's even the case).
