    I used to think that there should be a story Coil, but now I believe there just shouldn't be any meaningful story attached to end-game raids. Then there would be no reason to create a second tier of raid for people who can't find the time to create or join a static or pug with skilled players.

    So I say "no"

    Now that I think about it there's a bit of a disconnect between vet players and, well, everyone else.
    There are people like those in this thread that say Coil is too hard. There are those who will say the Coils are too easy, too.
    Wanna know why? Because they've done them all repeatedly. New players often aren't necessarily "bad," just inexperienced. Since the coils are ALL about mechanics, the key to winning is knowing how the fight works.
    And the way the system is currently set up...it's harder and harder to GET experience and practice. Especially for, say, t7.

    They're making a coil 2 lite by adding echo. You can burn turn 6 and ignore some of the mechanics already. Turn 7 most teams need to hold back on DPS... Turn 8/9 are DPS checks and DPS checks will be gone with echo.

    I rather think they should do a "Story-mode" Coil for everyone to at least see the lore behind the Calamity. Make it 4-man, no loot, similar to how the Primals are introduced into the main-story quest. The same cut scenes can be kept, just massivly tone down the difficulty, and let people out gear it.

    2) those extremely difficult bosses are MINOR SIDE-STORIES.

    I would argue Coil contains MASSIVE PLOT SIGNIFICANCE regarding the 1.0 & 2.0 Storylines.

    Gating such rich, significant plot behind such difficult content is bothersome IMHO.

    There are always going to be those that find it too hard or those that find it too easy, and there will always be those that have the time to play alot and those that dont. The fact is I hate to say it but not everyone's schedule permits the building and maintenance of a static. I know many many people who work shifts. And those shifts change at any given week, this makes getting in a static nearly impossible. I agree with the OP that Coil needs a story only version for those that just want to experience the story. HOWEVER, I do believe that if a light/story-mode version were to come out, it should be much like the story line primals. It should have absolutely no gear rewards and be purely for storyline completion. That way those who do the normal coil version won't feel like their accomplishments were for nothing. (Athough this may also mean it will likely need to be implemented like a Duty Roullette so that people still do it and new players can still get completion.)

    Not all content is meant to be cleared by the majority. Simple as that.

    If your skill level is not enough to clear something without being carried...well, sorry, but you shouldn't clear it.

    We don't need trophies given out to people for being the benchwarmer on the losing team.

    I know, kids these days get praised for every little thing, told they cannot fail anything...well, that's not how life works, and shouldn't be how this game works either.

    I joined countless T5 parties when its lockout was removed, and had many, many wins through the PF. I'm going to do the same after a few weeks of 2.4 go by (first, I need to farm it to get whatever weapons/gear I need for FCoB progression). I've also helped on many Primal runs (all 5 Primals so far and Moogle) and will help out with Shiva. So I don't want to hear that I'm some elitist jerk laughing at people who fail. Doesn't change the fact that I know not everyone is meant to win.

    Coil gets nerfed every other patch. If you can't raid with a static, or aren't good enough to do so without Echo or vastly overgearing content, then just wait. And make some friends...this IS an MMO after all...

    It's a problem of SE implementing too meaningful of plot into content that's not achievable by so many of the game's players.

    If the plot were relegated to side-story status that would be something... but that isn't the case here.
